step 1
Preheat the oven to 200°C/180°C fan/gas mark 6.
step 2
Heat a splash of olive oil into a deep, lidded frying pan over a medium-high heat. Squeeze the sausage meat (2 packs) from the casings into the pan in chunks and cook for 12-14 minutes until golden brown all over.
step 3
Add the shallots (3) and cook for a further 3-4 minutes until softened, then add the garlic (3 cloves) and cook for a further minute.
step 4
Stir through the tomato paste (90 g) and cook for 1 minute. Stir through the single cream (250 ml) and parmesan (40 g).
step 5
Dissolve the stock pot (1) in boiling water (400 ml). Add the stock to the pan and bring to the boil, reduce to a simmer and cover with a lid and cook for 10 minutes.
step 6
Stir through the kale (100 g) and cover with a lid and cook for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
step 7
Once the sauce has thickened slightly, pour into a baking dish (24 x 20cm and roughly 5cm deep) and leave to cool for five minutes. Lay the puff pastry (1 pack) over the mix. Cut out a heart shape or any other design using the leftover pastry. Brush with the beaten egg (1).
step 8
Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden. Serve with rocket (as needed) dressed with a bit of olive oil.
