What are the benefits of reducing food waste?
Not only does cutting food waste save you money (the average UK household could save a whopping £730 per year), it can help you be a more efficient and resourceful cook, too. Whether you're using the whole vegetable in clever ways or transforming leftovers into tasty lunches, you could save precious time and find delicious dinners along the way. Win-win!

Supporting local communities with Neighbourly
As part of Plan A, our sustainability strategy, we're committed to reducing waste, supporting local communities and creating positive impact where we operate. A key way we do this is through our long-standing partnership with Neighbourly, which helps ensure surplus food and flowers reach people who need them most.
M&S was a founding partner of Neighbourly when the platform launched, and we've been working together for over 10 years to connect our stores with local charitable organisations across the UK. Today, our stores are part of a network linking more than 550 locations with over 3,500 charities and community organisations.
Thanks to this partnership, we've donated the equivalent of more than 130 million meals, helping support thousands of local good causes while reducing waste.
We're also proud to be one of the first retailers to hold the Neighbourly Mark, recognising our long-term commitment to community investment through volunteering, donations and surplus redistribution. This recognition reflects the important role the partnership plays in delivering our Plan A ambitions and supporting stronger, more resilient local communities.
