How to cook tuna steak

Tuna is best served slightly pink in the middle, so take care not to overcook it.

Pan fry

Heat a little oil in a frying pan over a high heat. Season the tuna steak and cook for 2 minutes per side. Rest for a few minutes before serving.

Bake

For a more hands-off approach, place tuna steaks in a lightly oiled baking dish and season as desired. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C/180°C fan/gas mark 6 for 12-15 minutes, depending on thickness and how well cooked you like it.

Barbecue

Brush the tuna steaks with oil and cook over a hot barbecue for 2-3 minutes per side. The high heat creates a delicious char while keeping the centre tender and succulent.

Griddle

A hot griddle pan gives tuna steak attractive chargrill marks and plenty of flavour. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side.
