Add the wine (1 bottle), orange brandy liqueur (100 ml), maple spice syrup (1 tbsp), orange slices (1), lemon slices (1), cinnamon sticks (3), star anise (3) and cloves (1 tsp) to a large saucepan. Place over a medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, taking care not to let it boil.

Ladle into mugs or heatproof glasses and serve with your choice of garnish, such as a cinnamon stick or orange slice.
