Pots & Pans FAQs

Which is better for frying: stainless steel or non-stick?

What type of pan you choose depends on what you’re cooking. Stainless steel frying pans are good for searing and browning foods at higher temperatures. Meanwhile, non-stick pans are best for cooking delicate ingredients like eggs, pancakes and fish without them breaking up or adhering to the surface. Non-stick pans are generally easier to clean, but need gentle handling to protect the coating. You’ll find both non-stick and stainless steel frying pans in our selection.

How do you choose the best frying pan?

Weight, size and material are all points to consider when you’re browsing frying pans. Aluminium designs heat evenly and are lightweight, while sturdy cast-iron options can be transferred from the hob to the oven. Standard sizes run from 20cm to 31cm – choose from round, square or griddle styles. Browse our collection for reliable frying pans in different sizes, including designs triple-coated with durable non-stick materials to ensure your omelettes release easily every time.

What’s the difference between a skillet and a frying pan?

While modern skillets and frying pans are largely interchangeable, subtle design differences remain. Skillets traditionally feature deeper, straighter sides, sometimes with integrated pouring spouts, and were historically cast iron. Frying pans tend to have flared edges and are made from lighter stainless steel or non-stick aluminium. Today, both serve as versatile everyday kitchen staples. In our collection of pots and pans, you’ll find everything from skillets and frying pans to woks and lidded sauté pans.
