What to Wear for a Spa Day
Content editor
Emily LambeWhat to take to the spa
Unwinding with a well-deserved pamper session at the spa is one of the best things for self-care. In most cases, the spa will provide the essentials like towels, dressing gowns and slippers, but you may feel a bit more comfortable bringing along a few extras.
Make sure you have a swimsuit with you for dipping into hot tubs and pools and a pair of flip-flops for wet areas. Bring loose-fitting clothing like comfy loungewear and a spare set of knickers to change into after treatments.
A detangling hairbrush will be handy after swimming and a silk scrunchie will keep your hair out of your face during treatments. You may want to bring your own skincare if you’d prefer to use your favourite products.
Don’t forget a book or magazine if you have some downtime in between sessions, and it wouldn’t hurt to throw in a pair of sunglasses for outdoor areas, too. Toss everything in a large tote bag and you’re good to go.
Top spa day outfit ideas
Not sure what to wear to the spa? Comfort is key, so opt for loose, cosy clothes like sweatshirts, joggers and knitwear.
Super soft fabrics, like this boucle jumper, will feel like stepping into a cloud after a blissful massage. A pair of lightweight knitted trousers in a wide-leg fit and elasticated waist stops you from feeling too constricted.
A coordinating set like this cotton-rich crew-neck sweatshirt and wide-leg joggers is easy to throw on if you’ll be on the go afterwards. Slide into a pair of fluffy clogs or smart, supportive trainers to complete the look.
What to wear during a full-body massage
Deciding what to wear during a full-body massage is totally up to you and your comfort level. The spa will likely provide a dressing gown to wear before and after your treatment, and they may offer disposable underwear to wear during the session.
A pair of comfy knickers is the best bet if you’d like a bit of coverage. The massage therapist will cover you with towels or sheets while they’re working, so you won’t feel exposed or cold.
Just make sure to remove jewellery or anything that will dig into your skin before your treatment so you can fully relax.
If you’re still unsure, simply contact the spa ahead of time and ask what they would recommend you to wear.
Can you wear a bikini to a spa?
Wearing a bikini or swimsuit is recommended if you plan on taking a swim, soaking in a hot tub or using a sauna. Go for an unwired swimsuit with no hardware detailing for the most comfortable option, like this classic bikini set or this textured one-piece.
Toss on a light cover-up when you’re walking around, like our pure cotton kaftan or mix and match a pair of flowy linen trousers with an airy button-up shirt.
