These six wear-forever items should be in every man’s capsule wardrobe, from a classic cable-knit jumper to the perfect pair of Chelsea boots

The cable knit

Who doesn’t need a cosy knit in their wardrobe? We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to come up with a lightweight, incredibly soft fibre you want to wear every day, combined with the warm retention you expect. And we think we’ve cracked it. Lay your hands on this cable knit jumper and you’ll see what we mean – it’s so cosy and comfy you won’t want to take it off. It also comes in a rich burgundy shade to suit every mood and outfit, and at only £25 you can afford to stock up.

The utility shirt

You’ll wear a utility shirt all year round, so it’s worth investing in a good one for autumn to get the most mileage out of it. Workwear-inspired details, like buttoned pockets and brushed fabric, lend a lived-in feel to this versatile piece, meaning you’ll reach for it on mornings and evenings alike. Layer over a crisp white T-shirt and ecru jeans on mellow late-September days, adding a lightweight padded gilet underneath for extra insulation once the temperature drops.

The ultimate cargos

Like many key pieces in the modern man’s wardrobe, cargo trousers originated in the military before finding their way to the street. The multi-pocket utility style of cargo trousers looks great when contrasted with smarter staples. Try teaming stone-coloured cargo trousers with an Oxford shirt and lightweight cable knit jumper. Nod to the nineties with a pair of chunky trainers for a look that’s put-together but not stuffy. Finish with a shearling-lined denim jacket for a look that will take you through the week with ease.

The rugby shirt

Smart but not too smart, easy to wear and a preppy essential. The rugby shirt is not something to be messed with. So, we haven’t. Much. The high-quality, super-soft pure cotton we’ve always used is still there, its tactile brushed finish giving the feeling of a long-standing favourite straight off the hanger. A concealed button placket, a faded denim collar and ribbed cuffs add to the substantial feel, but it’s in the cut where we’ve added our tailoring expertise. Available to two lengths for the perfect fit, it’s also subtly shaped into the waist giving a neater, more modern look.

The Chelsea boots

Step this way for a pair of boots with enduring style. Our black Chelsea boots are made with sleek real leather (100% of the leather is responsibly sourced via the Leather Working Group) and built to last. At just £80, these boots showcase a high standard of design and construction, without the price tags that normally come with such premium quality. What’s more, they feature thoughtful details, such as elasticated sides, a pull tab at the back of the heel and a textured grip sole for cold-weather conditions. Brilliant.

The Stormwear mac

A true wardrobe staple, you’ll wear our refined cotton-blend mac on high rotation during the grey and drizzly months of autumn and winter. Black is a fail-safe option that goes with pretty much anything and can be dressed up or down, depending on where you’re heading. Wear on the weekend with a T-shirt and a hoodie, or to work with a smart shirt and merino wool jumper. Not yet convinced? Check out the array of five-star customer reviews, which range from ‘never had so many compliments’ to ‘perfect thickness and a great fit’.
