Our Best Ever Melton Mowbray Pork Pie is crafted in Leicestershire by Walker & Son, who have been baking pork pies since 1824. They’re so loved locally that families would queue around the block on Christmas Eve to purchase their Walker's pork pies, and you can taste their British pie-making heritage in every detail of this award-winning pie.
Walker & Son’s Senior Development Chef has worked together with the M&S team and Walkers Master Pie maker, Ian Heircock (who’s been making pies with the bakery for 47 years) to create Our Best Ever Pork Pie. This traditional Melton Mowbray Pork Pie is made with only the finest fresh British uncured pork, with a generous 50% meat content and a hint of white pepper for a deep, savoury flavour.
Encased in a rich, golden hot water crust pastry made with hot water and pork lard, the pie is traditionally baked while free-standing, which creates its gently bowed shape, synonymous with an authentic Melton Mowbray pie.
Hand finished with eight crimps, it’s completed with a flavoursome roast pork stock jelly added after baking. We’re so proud that Our Best Ever Pork Pie was awarded Best in Class at the 2026 British Pie Awards.
