Styling Autumn Flowers For The Season

Bold blooms for autumn days
While autumn might sum up images of fallen leaves and shiny conkers, autumn flowers still have their place during the cosy season. Just as the season shifts, so do the stems on offer, from late-blooming favourites to those that signal the start of winter.
Think dusky pink roses, protea and sunflowers for a final burst of summer glow, teamed with eucalyptus and blue sea holly to add depth and texture.
The result? A bouquet that works just as well on your kitchen table as it does brightening a grey day. Perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, or when you simply want to treat someone (or yourself).

Shades of the season
Autumn flowers draw on the rich palette of the season. Shades of red, orange and gold, deepened with a touch of burgundy, set the tone and bring warmth indoors.
In autumn the colour of roses shift from soft pastels to vibrant orange and creamy tones, as seen in our orange and cream rose bouquet. Clusters of berries add a distinctly autumnal edge to even the simplest arrangement.
For something bolder, protea really shine. Their burnt orange and dusky pink petals, framed by deep green foliage, bring structure and drama that creates striking contrast against softer blooms.

How to style your stems for autumn
Adding extra autumnal foliage to a bouquet of flowers will instantly update them for the season. Take a few eucalyptus leaves and team with roses and peonies for a fuller, more textured look that feels perfectly seasonal. On their own, eucalyptus also make for a simple, yet striking, arrangement.
Alternatively, blue eryngium, also known as sea holly, creates a bold contrast to autumnal shades while adding extra texture.
And, don’t underestimate the role of the right vase. A simple wide-mouthed vase is perfect for larger blooms like protea and dahlias, while a tall, fluted design works best for roses or eucalyptus stems. Opt for ceramic or glass in earthy tones to enhance the warm feel of an autumn flower arrangement.
