Relaxed Mid Rise Straight Leg Jeans

Decided to keep these after some careful consideration. I'm late 50's, 5ft 2ins, size 12, hourglass. These River Island jeans were a first for me as I tend to buy jeans from M&S or one other high street brand. Petite length is great for me and I had been searching high and low for a pair in a warm neutral colour, with the traditional denim pockets, and 100% cotton (rigid not stretchy and don't crease under the bottom). The fit is ok. The back of the waist gapes a lot which means i must wear a belt. Its also high waisted on me rather than the stated mid rise which I am ok with but might not be for everyone. There is a definite tight area across my hips just below hip bones which is less than ideal. However the leg is relaxed as stated and roomy (do all us hourglass shapes have quite chunky upper legs?). In my opinion the jeans are more like wide leg than the advertised straight relaxed. I have kept them because these were the only pair I could find that ticked most of the boxes for me.
