A very disappointing cake. The sponge was dry and the icing very sweet….too sweet. It was a very disappointing experience and too expensive. Although the presentation was impressive.

I bought it for my daughter’s silver wedding. The problem I had was the written message, it could have been laid out better. The cake itself tasted great but the writing was not evenly laid out. Please see picture of the initials on different lines, these should have been along the bottom together.

Inscription on cake
The inscription on the cake was set out illogically with lettering far too big. MATTHEW 50 on the 1st line, TODAY on the next followed by CONGRATULATIONS on the 3rd line. The order procedure did not allow for specific instructions on layout of text and I spoke to customer services who could not help with the layout but indicated that they thought it would be the logical way to put 50 TODAY on the same line. I was very disappointed!!

Too much over sweet icing, not enough cake

Having been a big fan of M & S cakes I had no hesitation paying £50 for such an occasion cake, however we were all disappointed that it was covered in over thick, over sweet icing, and underneath a small sponge cake, we will not be buying another ever again.
