Jersey Velvet Pleated Midi Skirt

I got the black skirt on sale and I'm very delighted with it. It is good quality and very well made. I would love if it was a bit longer. It is easy to dress up or down. Looks fab with boots, t-shirt and leather jacket.

I bought this in the sale and it arrives very quickly. Very good value. Very happy.

I bought this because I have two similar skirts from M and S. Although I chose the longer length, it was not long enough and it did not ‘hang’ well. Disappointed so had to return it.

The skirt has a nice swing as I walk. I am just under 5'3" (157cm) so purchased the regular length (30" - it measured up as a fraction over 30" - 77cm) therefore it reaches my ankles. I'd have purchased a 28" if this were offered. Sizing of waist is generous: Size 20 is listed as 38.5" (just under 98cm) but the waistband measured 2" larger - 40.5" (103cm). This may be of help: One of the reviews mentioned semi-elastication - my skirt has none at all. There is no hem, but the fabric looks stable enough not to fray. I'll be careful to use a delicate wash as recommended. There are no pockets.

Eventually I will get the opportunity to wear this in its full shiny velvet glory as it deserves to be taken out of the home (after lockdown). It's long but lovely. If you have a wide waist and hips like me, I suggest sizing up as the waist band is not stretchy.

Don't really wear skirt very often, wanted this one to wear with boots. Looks great.

This is my third pan velvet in this pleated style (and already have the leaf green and dark red versions). Normally I dislike polyester velvet but this works. Each year there is some difference in how it is made: elasticated velvet covered waistband, elasticated elastic waistband. This year it seems the standard length is about 1.5 cm shorter and there is an invisible zip, with a petersham facing and inside button and a velvet covered waistband (so very little stretch). The zip and button on the petersham facing doesn't sit particularly well and I would have preferred the slightly longer length but I will keep this. These skirts work very well in cool spring and autumn and warm winter days and can be dressed up. Bought in sale, so the price was ok for me.
