Smart but not comfy

My 12 year old wanted a really smart pair of shoes for school and liked the look of these, they were available in a half size - which was a bonus - I tried not to look at the price, and got them for him. They are indeed very smart looking, however the leather was very stiff and 'cut' into his foot just under his ankle. He reluctantly admitted that although he loved the styling they just weren't comfy enough to have on all day at school and back they went. His second choice were ordered with softer sides also in a half size (more half sizes please M&S!!) and we were both pleased with these and kept them (also cheaper as it was 20% off footwear day! - Result!)

After endless pairs of expensive school shoes which last my 10 year old grandson one term at the most I bought these in desperation because half sizes are very difficult to get. He has not had them long but it is already obvious that they are much stronger and sturdier than all the ones he has had before. They are very nice looking shoes although, initially, he said they were 'girls shoes'. We had to show him pictures of men's brogues to convince him but we've had no complaints since.

Appear to be good quality, proper shoes. While sturdiness is good, the fact that they need 'breaking in' is unattractive to an 11 year old! Can't really vouch for comfort, wear & tear etc as it isn't term time yet so he hasn't worn them.

My son has just started high school and wanted a grown up pair of shoes. He loves these and pleased he has something which looks like his dad. Had to go up half a size because they are tight to get on. Only problem is not sure they will be that hardwearing. After 1 day, the top of the shoe is already cut and the black part of the shoe has been removed. Does not detract from my son loving these shoes and thinks leather polish will make them right. He definitely wants another pair and he has never been that interested in his look before so these get a thumbs up for me just for that reason.

The shoes were lovely very fashionable and pleasing to the eye. The only problem my son had was that they weren't very wide at the front. This was extremely unusual as we have always bought M&S shoes for school without any problems before. Sadly the shoes have been returned.

Purchased these with the 20% discount for my son. The shoes are smart and stylish. Can not rate their wear and tear as I had to return them (they were not stylish enough for my son age 12) Also they were too narrow and in the style of shoe he would have to opt for the wide fit.
