Bought for my mum’s 80th birthday and it was perfect! Genuinely even prettier than the photos; I was beyond relieved. I usually make and decorate the cakes but due to mum’s health, time. Was not my friend. I knew M&S cakes (particularly Victoria sponge) have the best flavour of any shop bought, in our family opinion, but would the appearance be up to scratch? Would there be too much buttercream due to the mound of tulips? Would the colours be dull or gaudy? Everything was perfect and delighted to find the mound hid another layer of domed sponge, jam and cream, so perfect ratio. Best of all mum adored it - thank you M&S

This cake is beautiful and really tasty. It looked really impressive on display for my 60th birthday. I would just say that there is clearly a lot of unhealthy icing, so if you are looking for something less fattening, choose something with less icing. It is delicious though!
