These trousers are very comfortable. I am a slim size 12 and bought the size 12 in regular length. (I am 5ft 6in with reasonably long legs and wear trainers with them. Perfect. They are very slightly loose round the waist and hips (but I prefer that to trousers that are too tight and they have belt loops so it is not a problem.) They hang beautifully and the pockets are completely flat and perfect. I add that as I saw that someone complained in another review that the pockets stuck out. Maybe that person needed a pair in a slightly larger size. The fabric is lovely - I bought the navy blue and they are a lovely dark navy. I would love more colours in these trousers. I cannot justify buying the brown as I bought a lovely pair of dark brown wide legged cord trousers last winter from another company.

Bought these to have availability of different styles in my wardrobe and cannot be more pleased - the fit is great also on a petite frame, got them in the extra short version and cannot be more pleased. I love that M&S are offering this option, it makes a huge different to us small people!!

Nice but a bit too wide for my frame. Length is also just almost right (short version) for 1.62m. I would have liked them maybe just 1-2 cm longer. I think this style will be great for longer legs than mine. I will still wear them, as I like the fabric and the colour, but these are not my favourites.

Disappointing elephant-ear pockets & shiny fabric

I looked as carefully as I could at the photos and read the reviews, but this year's version of wide-legged cords has pockets that are a big disappointment. Set absolutely and directly into the side seam, the pockets create an unflattering 'elephant-ear ' sticking-out effect when walking or sitting. The size was fine, so going up a size wouldn't have helped. I could have sewn up the pockets, but why would I? My second gripe is that the cord fabric M&S uses is getting ever more shiny! Okay, if you want to sparkle your way through the colder months, but it looks cheap, so it's a strong no for me. Returned immediately.

These cord trosers are a lovely weight - the material is soft and hangs well, and the stitched seam down the front of the leg lifts them from casual to elegant, as does the waistband- free shaping at the waist. I chose the brown colour and this is very on- trend this year.

Pleasantly surprised with the quality and rich deep colours of these wide leg cords. The high waisted fit complements the wide leg hence the fit is quite a flattering fit. I bought size 8 petite/short length which are a perfect length for a (sensible) heeled loafer and boot.
