How to wear loafers with jeans
Loafers with jeans are the cornerstone of a capsule wardrobe. Smarter than trainers, yet still comfortable, this pairing can easily give you an everyday look that feels put-together.
Our 'viral' suede loafers are hot news right now and for good reason. Effortlessly stylish and comfortable, they're also a great transitional shoe. Paired with cream jeans and matching knitwear, a tan suede loafer breaks up the monochrome outfit to introduce subtle contrast.
Not sure how to wear loafers with cropped jeans? Penny loafers add polish to shorter-length jeans without looking overly formal. Try with ankle-grazing jeans and a simple T-shirt for a fail-safe outfit.
To instantly dress up relaxed jeans, opt for loafers with gold hardware. Create an on-trend double denim look with a denim shirt or keep the outfit smart by adding an oversized blazer.

How to wear loafers now
Though a classic since the 1950s, loafers are firmly back in the style spotlight, fuelled by the preppy trend revival and their ability to modernise any look.
It's surprisingly easy to style penny loafers – they go with pretty much anything. While a natural fit with smart trousers and shirts for the office, their subtle androgyny creates a contrast with softer, traditionally feminine pieces. Try them with a floaty dress for a contemporary edge or an A-line mini skirt for a touch of retro cool.
When it comes to how to wear chunky loafers, it's all about playing with their shape to create balanced outfits. Step away from skinny jeans and instead explore more voluminous silhouettes like horseshoe or barrel leg cuts. Flatform loafers also look great with longer Bermuda-style shorts or cropped wide-leg trousers. Try metallic loafers for a futuristic feel.

Dressing up loafers
Do loafers go with dresses? They most certainly do and can breathe life into an old favourite, bringing it bang-up-to-date. Knowing how to wear loafers with dresses is just about understanding what styles work well together.
Cream loafers can instantly dress up a midi, especially if your dress has similar neutral tones running through it. Try them with a floral or polka-dot dress that incorporates cream or beige, then add a mini straw bag and some delicate gold jewellery.
A pair of tan suede loafers are ideal for holidays. Team with a flowy maxi dress for a boho feel. Don't forget a straw hat and sunglasses for the ultimate in summer chic.
And you can't beat classic black loafers: they work with pretty much any dress in your wardrobe. We love them paired with a more structured or tailored dress. Pop on a blazer and grab a sleek tote for a fuss-free office look.

Elevate loafers with socks
Loafers can be worn with or without socks. Not sure how to wear loafers with socks? There are no hard or fast rules but here are some pointers that can help you.
An easy styling trick is to coordinate your socks with a colour from your outfit. For instance, red socks would beautifully complement a red striped top when worn with simple black loafers. Alternatively, if your loafers are colourful, consider contrasting socks. Mustard yellow creates a striking contrast or opt for a patterned pair incorporating the same hue.
Don’t be afraid to wear socks and loafers with skirts either – it adds a contemporary feel to your look. Having your sock on show means you can really play with the pairing. Try sheer socks for a fashion-forward look. Or, our particular favourite, sparkly socks. They work well for evening or more playful outfits.
