Mid Rise Barrel Jeans

I am in love with these jeans. The cut is superb - the barrel shape is created with an insert at the sides which provides two extra French seams which add interest and give such a lovely shape. Other barrel shaped jeans create the shape using darts - I've tried a few different ones, but these M&S ones are just head and shoulders the best. The sizes between 8 and 14 seems to sell out the moment they come on the website. Here's my but...the length. I am 5 ft 3 inches (1.6m) and initially bought regular length. They sit on my ankles (which is where they are intended to sit) - I really don't care what the current fashion is or what the influencers say we should be wearing, I do not look good in any trousers that aren't full length. Full length lengthens my leg and makes me look taller. So having worn the regular length, which did look nice even though they flapped around my ankles, I tried the jeans in long and oh, my goodness, they went from looking good to looking amazing. My very fashion conscious millennial daughter had also bought herself a pair - she is taller than me so bought the long length, but they are ankle length on her and, having seen what the long looked like on me, she now has jeans envy and even asked me if it would be possible lengthen them (the jeans don't come in extra long). For information - the jeans are listed as being mid-rise but I would say they are high rise - I am short-waisted so you would expect them to come up higher anyway, but they were also high rise on my daughter. I'm not objecting to high rise - it holds me in nicely - but I think describing them as mid-rise isn't accurate. I now have the jeans in 3 colours and I love the ecru ones best - they're completely elevated by pairing with a dark-coloured top and a dark belt (and I always wear trainers more-or-less the same colour as my trousers - another short person hack to make me look taller). One styling note - these jeans won't look nice with a long top - you need a short top or tucked in top so you can appreciate the full barrel shape and have the full leg lengthening effect. Don't be put off even if you have a bit of a tummy - just try them - you might be very pleasantly surprised. M&S must, however, sort out their supply of these jeans!

These jeans are really nice, good colour and fabric. I bought the long length (Im 5'8") and I found them just a bit too short - I appreciate that is part of the style,but these felt uncomfortably short for me and limited my choice of footwear. They are high rise and I found them slightly short in the body (Im a size 14). Sadly, returned.

I am 5ft 7 and usually buy regular length, but wanted a longer look, so bought these in long. I am so disappointed, as these sit above my shoe line! I would have taken them back had I not taken all the labels off and worn them before I discovered this whilst I was out and about. Usual great quality, but they’re too short. I dread to think what actual tall people are finding.

I love the shape of these jeans and previously bought in a different colour. I ordered the same size in the black and although they fit they are definitely a bit more snug (the other colour still fits me perfectly so not a me problem!). I have kept them but was disappointed in the difference in sizing.

I love these jeans 😀 they fit to perfection (size 16) and are so comfortable. I’m 68 and thought the barrel leg shape wouldn’t be for me - not so - looking stylish doesn’t need to stop when you become a pensioner!

Really like the fit and style of these jeans. Also like the fact that they are 100% denim. I have already got these in the darker shade which is about 1cm bigger on the waistband.

These jeans are a perfect fit. I aways struggle with waist, hip and lengths of jeans and usually have an exhausting time in the fitting room. I usually have to size up as my bum is big and waist is small so never get an ideal fit. I read about these and thought I'd give them a try. They are a lovely comfortable denim too. I've also purchased them in black!

My fav pair of jeans right now; really soft, easy to wear and true to size! If you’re 5’3 definitely go for the short length.
