Just strange

I used to love colour conserve but this just isn't as good. My hair feels like it has a coating on it after using it and I have to wash my hair much more frequently than I have before. I will use the supply I have (I bought when it was on offer) but I won't be buying again and I am looking elsewhere for a replacement. Looking at the reviews, Aveda have made a huge mistake discontinuing the old product to replace with this poor product. I've tried the normal and light versions of this product and neither are good.

Poor replacement for Colour conserve
Originally posted on Aveda UK
I'm always excited to try a new product, expecting it to be superior to what came before it, but not in this case. Although I'm used to the fact that Aveda shampoos don't foam that much, this one really doesn't and you end up using much more product. I've tried not using much product and also using as much as I need to get a decent lather, but the end result is the same either way. I am left with lank, heavy feeling hair. No other product in the range seems to suit my needs so I'm having to look at other brands now, which is a shame as I've used Aveda products for almost 30 years. Even the Aveda salon I go to doesn't like this formula. I wish you'd bring back Colour Conserve.

Disappointed - Why Change the Original Product?
Originally posted on Aveda UK
I have used Aveda Color Conserve for many years now and was thoroughly happy with it. I tried this updated product and made my hair feel like straw and scalp itchy. I couldn't run my fingers through my hair whilst shampooing and it felt matted. I have tried both the light and rich color conserve and neither worked. Aveda you have lost a customer who has used your shampoos for over 20 years. I now use a different brand. Why change what worked?

A poor replacement for Color Conserve
Originally posted on Aveda UK
I have tried light and rich version of this product since Color Conserve has been discontinued. Neither are any good. They leave my hair greasy, dull and I don't like how they smell. Having used Aveda products for over 30 years, I don't know what to do. None of the other shampoos in Aveda's range work like Color Conserve did for me, and I now face the slog of working out which alternative brands might be a good substitute. I'm left wondering why have Aveda become tone deaf to clients who have been loyal to them for so long?

COLOUR CONTROL SHAMPOO

This is an awful replacement for the Colour Conserve shampoo I have used for many years. It is too thick (the light version) and leaves my fine hair flat and greasy. I would not recommend this to anyone. A complete waste of money.

Bring back Colour Conserve!

Very disappointed Colour Conserve was discontinued and this is supposedly its substitute. Used the former for 20 years, and have tried to locate the odd bottle across various sellers since it was discontinued. Your website even stating it as a 'Best seller' before it was discontinued. This new product does not lather well and leaves the hair feeling matt and heavy. Please bring back Colour Conserve!!

No, I don't recommend this
Very disappointing replacement for colour conserve, a classic case of fixing what wasn't broke! This leaves my hair very greasy unfortunately. As there is no other Aveda general colour shampoo i have had to start looking at other brands which is disappointing as I've been using Aveda 20 years.

I have been buying a range of Aveda products for decades including Colour Conserve. I have converted many friends through buying them Aveda products as gifts. Colour Control is clearly Colour Conserve's replacement. To say I am disappointed is an understatement! It is awful! It makes my hair feel like I haven't washed it in days. It also makes not only my hair but my hands feel odd when washing with it. I certainly will not be buying it again ... it feels like a very cheap shampoo, which it isn't. I bought 1000ml, most of which will now go to waste. It is making me think at looking, in the future, for another brand to use. I had to give it one star but I wouldn't even give it a star given the choice.

Not nearly as good as the previous colour conserve

An inferior product in comparison with the previous colour conserve shampoo. Does not leave hair shiny and silky as I expect.

Bring back colour conserve
Originally posted on Aveda UK
Bring back colour conserve and be done with it. It was the best product you will ever produce, please explain why you got rid of it and are wasting everyone's time and money with useless replacements. Any one who recommends the replacements were gifted the product!

I used this as I had difficulty getting hold of Colour Conserve, but in my opinion it's no where near as good, it made my hair feel greasy, I had bought the whole set too and gave it away

As someone who has only gotten their hair coloured for the first time recently, I wasn't too sure on what to go for, doubly so since I have incredibly fine hair. I'm happy that I can say that I have had a really good experience with Aveda though! It's light enough to properly clean my hair without drying it out AND it's done wonders with keeping the vibrancy of my hair colour! Definitely a good shout!
