Perfect, gentle exfoliator

I just love it, it's simple, perfect size as I use it everyday, I would recommend even the 400ml it lasts forever. It's a perfect finish to my take the day off routine and the liquid facial soap.

When I started using Clinique years ago I was skin typed as a 2 . This became far too harsh for me and left my skin irritated. Eventually, after getting a diagnosis of rosacea , I tried this clarifying lotion the 1.0 .does the job without irritation.

After years of struggling with dry skin and trying every scrub, lotion and moisturiser on the market. I found this beauty and it has changed everything. I use this twice a day, it's gentle on my skin, actually removes dead skin and leave my face feeling fresh and soft. I've been using this product now for over 2 years! Can't recommend it enough if you struggle with dry skin!

I've always loved the 3 step system but started to find that it was quite drying on my skin. After changing to 1.0 my skin is lovely and soft and with no dry patches, I can't get enough of this new clarifying lotion !

I had previously tried the 3 step skincare and found that the clarifying lotion (with alcohol) really stung and burned the I applied it. So went back to chat with a Clinique consultant in Debenhams and she recommended this one. I find it amazing for my skin type. It doesn't sting, burn or feel tight so its a big thumbs up from me.

I think lots of people don't like this, or don't recommend this because of the gentle formula - it doesn't really get rid of spots over night, but it does clean your skin, and that's what it is supposed to do! I got this as my first toner and haven't stopped using it since! It makes your face feel clean and takes off LOTS of residue you wouldn't have ever seen was there! It doesn't make your face feel tight, and it doesn't sting at all, either. My skin feels and looks healthier. I would say it has got rid of my oily t-zone and kept my skin fresh. I would recommend this for people who want a gentle formula, especially younger people! Thank you Clinique!

Recently purchased from a Clinique counter. As the lady didn't have any samples of this product and had to buy the full sized, because I was really wanting to try it. I tried it that night and it didn't feel any different than the alcohol based ones. A few days on and I've got a big red spot on my chin, and little whiteheads have come out on and around my nose area. I am quite Oily in my tzone and this doesn't not remove the oil for long as a couple of hours later I am Oily again. I honestly prefer clarifying lotion 1 (alcohol-based) than this, as I did not break out as much. I will give it a couple more days, too see if it improves, or I will exchange it for no1.

I'm a big fan of the 3 step system however I find the clarifying lotions too drying and harsh on my skin they always leave my skin feeling tight ,visited my local Clinique store to purchase another product and mentioned it to the assistant who recommended this I must admit I told her I wasn't keen on trying this product because of all the bad reviews but reluctantly let her do a demo on me in store, still unsure I purchased the product anyway and have got to say I'm so glad that I did. it leaves my skin feeling so supple and soft but not at all greasy no more tight dry or itchy skin I can already see a big improvement in my skin my breakout are much fewer and my skin is lovely and soft . I can honestly say I can not understand why this product gets so much bad press its amazing and a little goes a long way it feels more wet than the other clarifying lotions . I'm in love so if you are unsure due to the bad press give it ago its fantastic

The toners that contain alcohol are too harsh for my skin, they make my eyes water so goodness know what it does to my skin. Relieved when they bought this out as it means I can adopt the 3 step system which has made a great improvement to my skin. It's a very good product1

Bring back mild cleanser

I have very dry sensitive skin and used the alcohol free toner for years, then it disappeared, and I was told that the 1.0 lotion was the same. It ISN'T the same. After coming up in dry lumps on my forehead, I checked the ingredients, it has witch hazel added. Lovely stuff, in my teenage years, I used it to dry up pimples and as a mild anti-septic, in my 50's, I do not need witch hazel. Bring back the original - I can't use this.

I used and loved the Mild Clarifying Lotion. It did wonders for my skin. This was recommended as " the same thing" in store. It really isn't. It has no discernible effect except to leave a film on my skin that takes ages to dry and then seems to make my moisturiser sit on the surface. I've been a Clinique devotee for many years but I'm now looking elsewhere for a product that works like their old one used to.

Awful - bring back the Mild Clarifying Lotion

No, I don't recommend this
I was persuaded to try this as a replacement for the Mild Clarifying Lotion by a Clinique saleswoman who promised me it was an "improved formula" but couldn't explain why. It's not. It's a bad product and certainly not a match for the Mild Clarifying Lotion. Firstly, why would you replace a product for 'delicate' skin with one for 'very dry/dry'? I don't have dry skin, I have delicate, oily, sensitive, spot-prone skin , which the Mild Clarifying Lotion was perfect for. Not all delicate skin is dry - something I would have expected Clinique to know. Secondly, it's absolutely useless as an exfoliator. The amount of salicylic acid is so reduced that it's pointless. Thirdly, the consistency is horrible. It left a greasy film on my face and had no positive benefit at all. In fact it made my redness, blotchiness and irritation flare up. I gave it to my mother and sister, who have similar skin to me, to try and both were just as unimpressed as I was. If they want to have this as an extra product in the Clarifying Lotion range for dry skin - fine, but don't tout it as a replacement for a completely different product. I hope Clinique see sense and bring back the Mild Clarifying Lotion, otherwise all three of us will be going elsewhere.

This is not as gentle as the mild clarifying lotion that it has replaced. It leaves my skin feeling tight and dry and I am looking for a product from another company to use instead. Very unhappy, loved the mild clarifying lotion !!

A benefit for sensitive skin
Originally posted on clinique.co.uk

I do have very sensitive and fair skin. It can flare up with medication and using the wrong product. I have to admit that Clarifying Lotion 2 never agreed with me and would always cause me to break out. Then this came along. It does not contain alcohol as some would suggest, but it does refresh the skin. It also offers gently exfoliation, which is exactly what I want - the benefit of a clarifying lotion that isn't too harsh to cause breakouts - so now I have clam, exfoliated skin that behaves better. I don't know what there is not to like about this Clarifying lotion. If you suffer from breakouts from using other harsh exfoliating lotions, I would certainly give this a try. It seems to work.

There seems to be some confusion. I don't understand where

There seems to be some confusion. I don't understand where people are getting the information from that this contains alcohol. Witch hazel water is distilled witch hazel that can then be added to EITHER alcohol OR water. They wouldn't be able to label this alcohol free if it contained even the slightest amount of alcohol. I love this clarifying lotion, I prefer it to the mild as I feel it does a better job at exfoliating. I have ridiculously sensitive skin and still manage. Please do your research before you make random claims based on what somebody without a clue has said.

I have very dry sensitive skin and the original mild version of this was the only Clarifying Lotion I could use from the range. This re-formulation is fragrance-free and contains skin-replenishing ingredients with acetyl glucosamine and glucose. It also contains skin-repairing hyaluronic acid, which is great. However, it also contains a lot of witch hazel water that can be irritating to the skin due the tannins and alcohol it contains. I will be stocking up on the original formula.

Even better than the Mild Clarifying lotion

At last......a clarifying lotion my sensitive skin loves. I've used the mild version for years and have been on the fence about it....it didn't irritate my skin but didn't seem to do much to improve it either. This version is amazing. My skin is dry and I still have blemishes, or rather, my skin was dry and had blemishes. this lotion has cured it all. At last I have a clinique glow!!

I found this left my skin very dry and tight after use. I was so looking forward to trying this new formula, but it's really not for me. I just don't understand why it is labelled as 'alcohol-free' when the second-biggest ingredient is witch hazel water, which itself contains a lot of alcohol. It is such a shame as the rest of the ingredients are so great: repairing glucosamine, moisturising glycerin and sodium hyaluronate, exfoliating salicylic acid, antioxidant caffeine and soothing trehalose. Please bring back the Mild Clarifying Lotion or please take the witch hazel out of the new formula.
