Good but not the women's Ultra w40

I have worn the Salomon Ultra w40 for years for hiking and walking and can wear them all day. Love the way they fit my narrow foot. Could not find them anywhere so ordered the X Ultra 360 and have mixed feelings. Love the fit BUT the hard toe protector has been agony to wear. I'm going to wear the shoes a little at a time to try to break them in more. Are you no longer making the Ultra w40???

Have been wearing salomon shoes for over 20 years. Always had good use. These shoes have excellent comfort. Fir a bit bigger than expected but not an issue. A bit of fabric piling after use but overall rugged enough. I have always loved the goretex options.

Been wearing for a week so far. Comfortable and sturdy. Not been out in the wet with them yet so can't state how waterproof they will be. Toe box is a bit narrow, but still better than other brands I've experienced.

I have been wearing Salomon hiking shoes for the last 20 years and x-ultra for the last 4 years (although lower quality compared to early years), that’s why didn’t even search for any other shoes. Omg i am sooo disappointed. Everything about the shoe has changed, the look is different (wide tongue area, looking big, ugly!). It is very stiff, tried wearing at home for a few hours and got blisters. I can’t understand how companies manage to ruin their long term best selling products.

The worst shoes I have ever bought

Left foot? Had to put moleskin to protect my foot from the inside of the plastic bits shown on the outside. The right foot? Caused shin splints for three days, followed by an excruciatingly sore knee. These provide zero support and are badly made. For the over pricing, these are not worth the money in any way whatsoever. VERY unimpressed.

Very uncomfortable. Terrible purchase.

I bought these shoes because I was advised that they were wide and had a deep toe box. Whilst I did try them on in the shop, they seemed ok, no way was I prepared further the pain I endured whilst going out walking. Feet cut to ribbons. I wore them once and gave them away. Definitely DO NOT recommend.

Awful hiking shoes. Do not buy

I am an avid hiker and have always purchased salmon for their quality and comfort and this is probably the worst shoe I’ve ever purchased in all my years. They get so hot on my feet so quickly and I cannot leave them on for more than a 2-3 hours with just regular socks. After only a month of wearing these the rubber notches on the bottoms of the shoe just started tearing off and now whenever there are rocks or sticks on the path the bottom of the shoe catches on those things so I trip all the time. There is little to no ankle support and my shoe laces never ever stayed tied no matter how much I tie them. As a person who has always bought Salomon hiking boots I am extremely disappointed. I literally can’t even wear these. I have probably worn these less than 30 times since I bought them a year ago and am just using my old busted up Salomon’s with holes in them and no tread on the bottom rather than these to hike. What a waste of money. Please do not buy.

Already left one review so not sure why you are asking for another but noticed it isn’t showing which seems odd. Maybe you dont show bad reviews so not a lot of point reviewing

My first hiking shoe

Prior to purchasing this shoe, I've only hiked in regular sneakers, so I did some research on what to look for in the hiking shoes and wanted to find a good deal for my first pair. I think these are really comfortable and I love that they don't have laces. They have great grip and my micro spikes fit over them without issue. I've enjoyed hiking this winter and look forward to more adventures this year.

These shoes have been great on hikes where I live. Can’t wait to try them in Yellowstone.

Wish I’d been advised to go up a half size or indeed full size - I bought my actual foot size and they are very snug ! Only thinnest socks possible.

I have now bought about 6 pairs...I absolutely love this shoe...I wear them everyday to walk my pups and I hike in the Adirondack mountains with them...I use to only hike in boots but these have changed that entirely....they fit me sooo well....please never discontinue this shoe!!

Disappointed - I walked around in these in Paris in light - medium rain for 2 hours and my feet got wet, my socks were proper wet. Additionally, the fit of the shoe is not comfortable, very narrow and would recommend a size up to your usual size.

No longer a reliable brand for overpronation
Originally posted on salomon.com

I was a big fan of X Ultra 3, and was hoping these would be a similar fit. Sadly they are not. X Ultra 3 was comfortable straight from the box, and gave me the arch support I needed for overpronation. These seem to do the opposite, they push my feet into an overpronation position, and caused ankle and knee pain. I tried changing the insole for an orthotic insole (one that I use in other shoes, so I know it's good) but that still didn't work. When I look at the shoes from the back, they do look like they lean inwards (see photo) which is exactly what I don't want!! Unfortunately I had walked in them so I couldn't return.

I bought these Salomon shoes as my last pair were worn out. I normally have to ease myself gently into new walking shoes but not these! 100% comfortable from day one absolutely love them.
