The Rioja region of northern Spain has a long history of winemaking and its Gran Reserva is the most distinguished style. Typically it can only be made in outstanding vintages. Aged first for 24 months in seasoned American oak barrels, then in bottle for a further 3 years, the result is a silky red wine with flavours of red berries, dried raisins and spicy notes. Ready to drink now, the wine will continue to mature over the next 5 years if stored in a cool, dry place.
