Joy Peak II Mid Hooded Padded Puffer Jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted a lightweight warm winter coat. I looked at Lands’ End and they were very expensive and I saw this on sale and it was perfect. It fits very nicely but does run small. It’s very warm. It has a two way zipper which is an added bonus.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love the fit of this coat- I have it in another color and wanted to get a plain black one to add to my closet for variety. I'm curvy but in the regular size range, with a bust of 36-38D so it is not always easy to find jackets that fit well across the chest, but this Columbia jacket fits perfectly and comfortably. It is a slim fit for sure but roomy enough for a layer underneath. It fits almost the same as my original one maybe slightly smaller. I really wish that Columbia would do more TONAL logo embroidery on their jackets to match the color of the jacket itself. It would just look a bit more stylish that way- black on black or blue on blue, etc. The white on black logo is a bit loud in my opinion. I wore my original one on a very rainy day and it kept me dry, and its a great in-between season jacket and versatile. I just wish they would make a longer version of this jacket for those very rainy days that goes down past the knees. Also the very bottom part sort of goes in a little- I wish it was more A-Line just at the bottom to make it easier to bend or sit in a car- but I just use the 2 way zip and unzip the bottom a little for that. Its perfect for layering a light sweatshirt underneath for 45-50 degree or so weather, possibly colder but I usually wear when its in the 40s - 50s. The hood lining is a nice cozy touch and the thumbholes are great, plus the zipper pockets easily keep a phone or other small valuables secure.

I followed it and the coat is at least one size if not two sizes too big. I should have stuck with my true size. I’m very disappointed because I bought it on sale and it will now cost me substantially more to buy the smaller size since there are no exchanges. Lesson learned… I’ll be returning it.

I have owned many Columbia jackets over the years and loved all of them, until this purchase. It took several weeks to arrive, which was annoying, but understandable in early December. Upon receipt, one of the pockets had a small hole, which I stitched up. Two-and-a-half months in, the zipper has become difficult. The bottom sticks and basically has to be wrenched apart to get out of the coat. The bottom-up functionality is mostly non-existent because of this, which makes sitting in the car uncomfortable. I debated long and hard about replacing my worn-out, 2x more expensive (but very similarly-styled) competitor coat with this one, and now really regret taking a chance on Columbia. Beyond disappointed with this coat.

This is a lightweight coat that, with appropriate layering, is very warm and very comfortable. The sizing guide suggested an XS based on my measurements; I sized up to a Small to accommodate a heavy sweater. Even so, the coat was slightly snug under the arms. I love the shape of this coat, which is somewhat contoured. Unlike some other reviewers, I found that the hood stayed on and was well proportioned. I bought the inexplicably named Dark Stone, which is a beautiful pale cream color. (I chose the color based on the photographs.) I do wish the coat had two exterior zippered chest pockets, a convenient feature that allows the wearer to enjoy the outdoors hands-free. That it even lacks an interior pocket is my only real disappointment in this coat.

I am very happy with this jacket. It is so warm that for someone who is always cold, I was surprised to find find myself toasty warm when wearing it outside on walks with the dog. It is very well made and very good looking. I like having the option of wearing the hood. I ordered the deep blue color and am very pleased with the classy yet casual look. I have worn other Columbia jackets and always found them to be of excellent quality and last a long time. Because the jacket is described for Active wear, I ordered up one size from my usual size Small to a Medium. I can easily add a heavy sweater underneath with plenty of room and still not look like it is too big on me. I would recommend this jacket.

I love this coat. It's toasty warm, lightweight, and since I chose white, I can be seen in the darkness of those early winter nights. The hood is lined with a low pile fur and the inside has a gold lining that keeps the heat in. I've already received lots of compliments when I wear it. A good purchase!
