True black, I'm 5'8 and 69k and it fits like a dream, just long enough for me but for somebody shorter would still be fine I think. Soft, stretchy but secure. Really really pleased with this top.Havent washed yet, but should be fine. Very pleased as got in the sale but would have paid full price.
