Disappointed
No, I don't recommend this
Looking forward to wearing this coat, but sizing seemed small and the lining of the coat was clinging to my clothing which spoilt the hang of the coat. Really disappointed as I loved the style, had to return

Good classic style. Good colour, fabric very good. Fits well on me i am short but it does not over piwer me and its a good long length ,very pleased with it.

loved this coat but not rain repellent at all
No, I don't recommend this
Two things wrong with this coat. It has cotton lining, which has some advantages but I prefer to slide in the coat with more ease. The other thing which I have not been able to test extensively is that I suspect it does not shield you against a minor rain shower. I tested it with a few drops and they were absorbed almost straight away in the cotton, which to me shows that the coat has not been treated in any way to cope with rain. It seemed too much hassle to do this myself. Very disappointing so I returned the coat. Great classic looking coat in gorgeous colour (in my opinion) and nice quality overall.

A quality classic
Yes, I recommend this
Excellent quality and style. A timeless classic. I am 5' 6" and the length is great...below knee. True to size for a change!

Great coat.

stylish and timeless coat. classy Italian vibe - always desirable. currently (autumn) warm enough for city life, with a cardigan and a scarf. I am 5'6'' and I think the coat needs mid-height heels.

Disappointed

I was really looking forward to receiving this coat as I needed a waterproof stylish coat. However, it is completely shapeless and over long, very heavy fabric and a rather muddy colour. Although the fabric and quality is good, it did nothing for me and I returned it.

Wonderful coat. Comes up a little big so took a size down on normal size. Lovely colour and great quality fabric. Perfect for the autumn.

Great mac/coat
Yes, I recommend this
Lovely for a Mac bit long but I didn’t mind that but sizing not great I ordered a size down because style looked forgiving but could have gone down two sizes! Nice colour and style so will consider reordering if I get another 20% off option.

Treat for me
No, I don't recommend this
Really liked the look and colour of this car coat on the website. As advised by reviews I went down a size. It arrived for click and collect in a small bag so it was very badly creased. Also for the price the material was very poor. The one I tried on before I ordered(size 10) was in an Italian fabric but the one I received was Made in China and was definitely inferior. Had to return ...which was a disappointment.

LOOKS VERY STYLISH AND ELEGANT. SUPER QUALITY. LOOKS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN ACTUAL COST.

Lovely for a taller person
No, I don't recommend this
I love the style, quality and colour of this coat, and was particularly pleased with the cotton lining. But unfortunately it just drowned me at 5ft 3 - I like long coats, but this looked ridiculous.

Great autumn coat
Yes, I recommend this
Very comfortable & easy to wear coat. Lovely to find something 100% cotton! Roomy enough to wear jumpers underneath without feeling too big without. Good length. Only negative is the lining which is also cotton so not so easy to slip arms into the sleeves.

Lovely coat but sleeves too short for tall women
Yes, I recommend this
Lovely coat but as with most M and S clothes the sleeves are too short. I am 5’10. A great shame and sadly this never changes despite feedback.

Absolute return to form for M&S
Yes, I recommend this
I saw this coat in a store at the end of the summer and the tobacco colour, quality of the fabric and cut really stood out. I don’t think I have seen anything like it in M&S in 30 years and finally bought it this week. I think that the word car coat has been a bit confusing as it references the car coats of the 20s and 30s not today’s shorter version. This is a fantastic quality (subject to how it wears!) traditional, single breasted Mac with raglan sleeves it a heavy weight cotton gabardine. I’m quite an hourglass shape and my normal size fits through the shoulder and hips with enough room for a jacket without being baggy. I’m 5’7 and it falls a couple of inches below my knee. I couldn’t be more delighted with this and hope that it is a promise of better things to come.

New coat

Seen this coat in store tried it on and liked it. I then bought online as not sure if length was too long to be a car coat. All the same good fit and looks expensive glad I bought it.

Huge fit.. looked totally ridiculous on me.. I’m 5ft 3” and ordered an 8.. gorgeous coat but far too big.. if anyone lives in the IOM.. I could have joined the purple helmets.. haha... sizing so wrong more like a 12. Such a shame..

An incredible coat
Yes, I recommend this
This cotton/cotton lined coat looks far more expensive than it was. It is a generous A line shape with a raglan sleeve in a very attractive sand colour. The buttons, although plastic have been well sourced and complement the colour of the coat. Looking at the quality of this garment, I can foresee many years of wear in this timeless, well designed classic.

Classic coat
Yes, I recommend this
I’ve been looking for this design coat for the last 12 months or so. When I saw it in my local M&S store I snapped it up. It is a very classic coat which always looks stylish. Rather like Aquascutum but a fraction of the price. I much prefer the cut of the shoulder/sleeve as opposed to the sat in sleeve. I just wish you would do them in a 3/4 length to wear with jeans of smart trousers.

Too heavy
No, I don't recommend this
Ordered on line and collected in store. What a disappointment material stiff and heavy and I found the style of this coat is very old fashioned. I am over 65 but even I wouldn’t wear this coat in fact the coat is more a Macintosh. Certainly wouldn’t recommend the to a friend.

A classic autumn style and top quality
Yes, I recommend this
This is such a beautiful and flattering style. It's quite retro with hints of styles popular in the 1940s and the raglan sleeve is a nice change from the usual set-in sleeve styles. the slant pockets are comfortable and the sleeves are a good length (maybe I have long arms but I've always found M&S sleeve lengths too short). The fabric is top quality and overall it looks more like a £200 coat. Another reviewer had noted its weight, yes, it is quite heavy but I rather like that and I think it will be a really warm coat once the nippy autumn mornings arrive. If you're debating whether to buy this, I would say go ahead and of course you can return it if you're not happy. I would have been really sad if I'd missed out on this - I think once September arrives, and especially if it is a cold one, these coats will fly off the rails. I'm a 16 or 18 depending on the style and brand, and I bought the 18. There is room for a thick jumper underneath and for ladies whose upper arms are not as slim as they once were, the sleeves are thankfully generous enough not too feel at all tight. This is not throwaway fashion...it's classic and elegant styling and that will never date. I anticipate this lasting me for many many years and, like another reviewer commented, M&S has gone back to the good old days of the St Michael label and top quality (and I'm of the age when I don't need to ask my parents!).
