You charged me £120 for a £40 gift card

I bought a £40 gift card online. I can't imagine many simpler transactions. Imagine my surprise when I was billed £40 then an extra £80. I've spent hours on calls and online chats with people who clearly have no motivation to help. I was told the extra £80 incorrectly billed might be refunded in 5 working days. It wasn't. I still don't have any resolution, and have no idea how to follow up.
