I have bought these cotton jersey trunks for years as a wardrobe staple. Nicely made, comfortable seams in places particularly sensitive to too much material or the wrong sort of thread. They also had a useful leg length and room enough in the legs to accommodate what a gentleman has to accommodate. But someone (perhaps a cost-accountant?) has changed the design and there must be at least 25% less material in them now. The legs are a tight fit (and I don't have Sir Chris Hoy's thighs) and they are shorter. This has meant that - particularly in this hot weather - they no longer contain everything that must be contained and they act like an elastic band around the aforementioned goods. I question if these have been re-designed by a man or a woman? I suggest that, if the latter, they are not in full possession of the factors required when designing your clothes for men. I find this a trend - mens' trousers increasingly have flies (zips or buttons) that are not deep enough for proper access without opening the top button or fastening and, again, I believe that male designers will understand this, whereas female designers are used to allowing enough zip simply to allow trousers to pass over the female hip form. We menfolk need proper access many times a day and don't wish to half-undress to perform regular functions. I may have digressed, but I believe there is a trend here that might make a post-watershed Room 101.

My partner says you can see and feel the reduction in quality. The material is thinner, the waistband elastic rolls. They're still ok but not what they used to be.

Husband says they are much smaller than previous purchases now can’t take them back! Come on M & S get your quality control checked you were always so reliable what’s happening

Been buying these in white for years for my husband but I now cannot buy white boxers in store why? Especially since he says they are so comfortable . All I can find in store are dark coloured ones which he refuses to weat

I have purchased these in the past and I think they were just called All Cotton Trunks, I buy them because I don’t get on with pants that contain elastane. I couldn’t find the essentials in blue in store so I ordered them online for collection in store. Delivery was quick but having tried them on they are at least one size too small. I have purchased ‘large’ because that it my normal size, my waist is just under 36” and size large says waist ‘36-38’. I can’t do much about it now as I have worn 2 pairs so can’t really take them back but I definitely won’t buy again. I would like to think the size information printed on them is a mistake as it was probably done on the other side of the world.

I have always bought these for my husband and son as they were such good quality and value. The product has changed. The material has no stretch at all. Going to order 2 sizes up to see are they any better. Very disappointed

Well made, good quality fabric, slim fit so returned medium size, exchanged for large as my husband preferred them slightly looser

I usually wear loose boxer shorts. However I needed something for some more fitted trousers. I've tried other trucks before and found them too tight round my thighs - no problem with these, very comfortable and great value for money

Good quality and really soft. Fit really well and all at a great price.

My husband was unhappy with these trunks. After a couple of hours of wear the legs became extremely baggy and uncomfortable.
