Ridiculous velcro collar.
No, I don't recommend this
For the price and adequate fit, it wasn't worth returning. But... That velcro collar. Why? The website says velcro fastening on sizes up to 8 years old. Maybe OK for the tiddlers but by the time you're at secondary school you have probably mastered a button. The velcro is included on sizes up to 12/13. A proper button collar is only on the 13/14 and up. Apart from being unnecessary, the velcro collar is also impractical - if you catch it with the iron, the hooks are melted and it no longer closes. The fabric is OK. A bit thin, but that's what you get with value price Schoolwear. They are described as slim fit although on my girls who are both at the slim end of the spectrum (11yrs, 36kg, 146cm), there is still plenty of fabric left over - had to compromise with a slightly too large collar to get adequate arm length. In summary: OK, not great.

Slim In The Worst Ways
No, I don't recommend this
I bought an age 14-15 shirt for myself to wear under a suit jacket as it was 100% cotton and so seemed like a good choice. The collar was far too big and allowed my entire fist to fit between my neck and the collar which gave the appearance that the shirt was too large when I was afraid that I would burst the seems of the arms. The arms on this shirt are far too narrow whilst the cuff is obscurely large. The body fit nicely however the large collar, tiny arms, and the velcro top button outshadowed the fit on the body. I will admit that I have slightly larger arms than average as I play rugby, but with how tight the sleeves were I imagine it'd be uncomfortable on anybody that played any sport.

Not as expected
No, I don't recommend this
Had to exchange as I bought these in age 14-15 yrs and did not expect them to have a velcro top-button collar fastening and elastic buttons at cuffs. My daughter did not feel she needed these at her age so had to return. (On pachaging it said this was only on shirts up to age 8) I understand these options are useful in older ages for some children but think it should be clearer on website/packaging.

Material itches
No, I don't recommend this
My daughter doesn’t like it because even though it is 100 percent cotton the material still feels itching and not comfortable

Why put Velcro fastener on a shirt for 15 year old
Yes, I recommend this
The cotton quality of the shirt is really good and fits well. I was not expecting there to be a velcro fastening for the top button rather than the button hole. On the packaging it says velcro fastening up to age 8. Daughter thinks its naff and doesn't allow the tie to sit nicely. Shame that this will be sent back as the arms and the body part of the shirt fitted well

Lovely to get 100% cotton
Yes, I recommend this
I love these shirts as they are 100% cotton. Not a fan of poly cotton mix and certainly not a fan of polyester as it is less breathable (and smellier) than cotton. These came with Velcro top button which my 11 year old actually likes as she has found some other button shirts stiff to do up / undo around the neck. My daughter is an average height slim build 11.5 years old. I bought the 10-11 and 11-12 years. The smaller size fits better now but both sizes are wearable despite the larger size is a bit too long in the sleeve at present (she isn't bothered by turning the sleeve up if needs be).

OK but not really slim fit

MASSIVE collar for size of shirt: several inches too big for my slim 11 year-old. Shame because nice shirt apart from that.

Aged 15 school shirt
No, I don't recommend this
Very disappointed with these blouses for my 15 year old daughter. The blouses had a Velcro fastening for the top button despite the packaging saying this was only a feature on aged 8 and under! I certainly don’t know of any 15 year olds who can’t fasten a standard button and buttonhole. Velcro is not for teenagers.

Not Slim Fit

Bought aged 14-15 and 15-16 for my 16 year old. Both were on the baggy side and the sleeves were definitely far to wide

Non iron school shirts
No, I don't recommend this
These shirts seem to much less non iron than they used to be. I can compare them directly with my son's older M&S non iron shirts after washing and drying them together and they come out much more wrinkled. Also the sizing is a bit confused. I intially bought the 13-14 range for my 13 year old but the collars were simply huge on her. I sized down to the 12-13 and now the collars almost fit but sleeves a bit short. My daughter is average height but very slim. To be honest I'm going to try a different brand next time to try to get a better fit and a more non iron shirt.

Thinner than they used to be!
No, I don't recommend this
Having always bought these shirts for my kids I was not impressed to see the material appears much thinner than previous ones. Although they are stated as non-iron, I don't have a tumble drier so have always given them a quick run over, again this was not as effective as when bought previously. Will see how they go as they are washed more but I may not be bothering to pay the extra in future as I've not been impressed so far. Daughter is impressed by the Velcro fastening top button!

Be aware: Velcro top button for all sizes
No, I don't recommend this
We bought these whole cotton slim shirts for my 12 years old daughter in size 13-14 years. Unfortunately this year, they put a Velcro top button apparently for all the sizes which is not nice for taller girls. We had bought them last year and they hadn’t been with Velcro button in size 11-12 years. It is a shame they decided to put this Velcro on any sizes despite the fact it is written on the pack that the Velcro comes up to size 8. I suspect a mistake done on the production site.

Hi Malolo, you are correct, unfortunately our supplier has mistakenly added on the ‘Easy Close’ Velcro top button feature on to ALL AGES rather than just up to age 7/8. The shirt is still perfectly functional but we understand some girls might not like it, so we're really sorry this wasn't suitable. We made the decision to keep the stock knowing we have this issue because we really did not want it to end up as wastage. Our slim fit long sleeve shirts Easy to Iron shirts don't have this issue if you'd like to try those.
Smart school shirts

Good quality school shirt. The Velcro 'top button' is a hit. No more fiddly top button.
