Good quality regular fit shirt
Yes, I recommend this
Really good quality, cool cotton shirts. Son has eczema so these are perfect, and a nice regular fit as well. Easy to wash and iron too.

Misnamed- Ultimate Non-Iron
No, I don't recommend this
I bought these shirts for my son and was surprised when I pulled them out of the washing maching at the number of creases throughout the shirt. I always iron the non iron shirts, but these take as much work as any normal shirt. Not impressed. Paid for the non iron element of the shirts!

Good school shirt
Yes, I recommend this
Great to be able to get a pure cotton white school shirt! They wash and tumble dry well and could probably be worn without ironing. The style is plain but looks good. The top button is fastened with Velcro which seems a good idea as it is easier to do up but the collar feels a bit tight when closing the Velcro.

Nice cotton shirts, shame about the velcro!
Yes, I recommend this
Really like the fact that these are 100% cotton. They seem to fit well and look to have been made very well. Only gripe is that whilst I like the idea of the velcro on top button, it really needs to be on the top two buttons, especiaaly if the idea is for the young kiddies to get it on and off easily with buttons still fastened. My son can't get it over his head with the velcro undone and therefore still has to undo buttons, so makes the velcro redundant.

Great value, great shirts. Buy them every year for school. Why don't you make 100% cotton blouses fit girls???

Nice shirts

Very soft, cool cotton. My children love them. They're ok without ironing, but a very iron makes them look smarter. If you want cotton shirts, these are excellent .

My son has eczema and these feel lovely on the skin. He also commented on the shape of the pocket which he likes. Will only buy these 100%cotton shirts for him.

Easy iron and indestructible, what more could you possibly want from a school shirt?

Kind on skin
Yes, I recommend this
My son has eczema so this cotton shirt does not irritate his skin. It has a lovely feel but it is not 'non-iron' but simply 'easier to iron.' I have since bought another because they look and feel superior to other brands I have bought in the past.

Smart school shirts
Yes, I recommend this
This is the only store I know that sells 100% cotton shirts. Will never buy poly-cotton, which is the only fabric I can find on the high street for school shirts. Once again M&S stands out from the crowd! Pure cotton shirts & very little ironing required. One point,, age 7-8 is the last size where the top button is velcro. I think that next year my grandson will probably still be struggling to fasten the top shirt button. PLEASE M&S extend your age group for school shirts with velcro fastening at the top, to at least age 9-10 years.

School shirts
No, I don't recommend this
I think these shirts are very poor quality. I bought shirts from Next also and they look so much better than M&S they say they are non-iron but after the first wash they were really creased and didn't iron very well. I'm extremely disappointed in these shirts.

Shirts for school

Thank goodness for these shirts they fit wash well and don't irritate my sons skin. We have tried many other brands but I feel these wash the best and fit well, the comfort for over sensitive eczema prone skin is great .

Brilliant shirts
Yes, I recommend this
I ordered these for my five year old little boy to wear to his new school this year. I was so amazed at the brilliant top button idea....Velcro!! This will make his (and mine) life so much easier when getting dressed on his own. Such a simple but brilliant idea! Well done M&S!

Lovely fabric
Yes, I recommend this
I would really recommend these shirts. They do come up quite big but it means they are long enough to tuck in comfortably. 100% cotton makes them feel so much softer than man-made shirts. On the downside they definitely need to be ironed and it takes a bit of work to get all of the creases out but I am prepared to do this for the sake of a more comfortable shirt. I try to make my 8 year old son's shirts last for a couple of days but they crease easily and so on colder days his shirt's usually a bit creased under his jumper on the second day. On warmer days I imagine that he'll need to wear a clean shirt every day or I'll have to iron the existing one at night! It really is worth buying 100% cotton though for the comfort and quality of the fabric.

Pure Cotton School Shirts

Lovely soft cotton material. I don't quite agreed with non-iron, as they can look a little creased after washing and drying. I didn't iron, but others might want to give them a quick press.

Nice cotton shirt but a few issues for M&S to sort
Yes, I recommend this
I bought these last September and wanted to wait to review. I do like the shirts and the cotton is soft, but there are a few issues that M&S should address. Not sure why they advertise them as 'non-iron' when pure cotton always needs ironing - 'easy to iron' would be a better description. The cotton is a bit on the thin side, so is a little see-through. Also, for some reason, M&S have printed a logo on the inside of the back yoke. Firstly this is unnecessary and a waste of ink as all the information is contained on the side label, and secondly, because the cotton is thin, you can see this from the outside, which I don't like. The other issue is that the top of the pocket is not stitched so little bits of fluff from the school jumpers collect in there and need to be removed after every few washes. The button packet has been sewn as you'd expect from a decent shirt, so it would be helpful if they could do the pocket top as well. Apart from those niggles, happy with the shirts, pleased that they are pure cotton and responsibly sourced, they have washed well and still look pretty much like new after 6 months of wear, so can be handed down to son no. 2.

Very disappointed.
No, I don't recommend this
These shirts are definitely not 'non-iron'. As directed on packaging, they were hung up immediately after washing but remained creased. After second wash I tried tumble- drying and hanging immediately but they still needed ironing. Garment label recommends using a hot iron whilst damp! Very disappointed as my son and I have a muscle condition which makes ironing particularly fatiguing.

White shirts
No, I don't recommend this
This item was bought because the Ultimate range was not available. The price was about the same so I expected a similar quality. This not the case. Ironing is quite difficult and the colour borders on cream rather than white. Look quite off when worn.

Cool & comfortable
Yes, I recommend this
My first time buying pure cotton school shirts - my teenage son is now at the age where man-made fibres are not good news! I am delighted with the fabric as it is fine and tightly woven (other retailers' cotton shirts I've seen have been much thicker), and my son agrees it is nicer wearing cotton. The size seems right to me, although I have sized up a bit hoping to get longer wear out of them as they are bit pricey. With regard to the 'non-iron' part, I don't possess a tumble dryer so I was never purchasing them hoping they wouldn't need ironing. These definitely require a lot more effort to iron than polycotton, as they have come out of the wash quite creased (maybe drying them on the radiator didn't help!) But, for me, this is worth the trade off to have a (relatively) fresh-smelling son in a nice cotton shirt every day!
