I was put off by the reviews first, but then thought: I am a grown woman and even if it's bad, it is not the end of the world - I do want this style and I take a chance! And I am so glad I did!! God it looks good. Got the Super Grey one. Stylish and classy. Love it.

I bought the orange color because it looked beautiful. After a couple of uses, the back had a weird discoloration on the bottom. I’ve tried cleaning it gently but it won’t go away. It’s an expensive bag to be discolored so quickly. I am disappointed!

Best Backpack Ever!!

I have 2 Kanken backpacks, both almost 10 years old and they are in really great shape. That alone makes me love this brand. It ACTUALLY holds up to wear & tear! This brand is one of the few reputable brands that does not use PFAS chemicals, yet is still waterproof. I love the way the canvas material wears over time, almost like a leather bag that gains character over time. I love that you can zip if completely open to see everything at once (if you need to). And unlike many other reviews, I love the side pockets!!! They do fit regular size water bottles, as well as baby bottles, spray sunscreen. No it will not fit your absurdly large Stanley bucket, but a 12-20 oz bottle, yes! Truly ever other backpack I’ve tried before this had some stretchy bit or crappy mesh that ended up ripping in less than a year. The pockets are perfect!!! Never change them. Lastly, I love that there are so many color options. It’s the best backpack on the market and it’s worth the high price tag.

Useless side pockets

I've had mine for 2 years. It is durable and versatile. However, you cannot utilize the side pockets as NOTHING fits in them. A basic bottle of water does not fit. I have to carry my water in the main compartment. For the price, there should be some sort of stretchy material or elastic or webbing for the side pockets to accommodate a beverage.

I purchased the 15” Laptop kanken. Excellent size, holds everything I need for work. My only issue is the material seems to show up a lot of dust/dirt which makes the bag look older than it is!

i am appalled. i was walking to the bus stop like i would usually, when suddenly my bag straps snapped. it snapped. the shock left me standing there, gaping, unable to process what just happened. usually i rely on this bag to carry many heavy loads but today seemed to be an exception. when the rest of the bag hit the concrete, the zippers split open (not one, but TWO) leading it to leave a exceedingly large rip down the side of the bag. i was distraught. i was upset. i stood there, standing at the scene, staring at the bag whilst mourning the sight. it is such a great shame that such an expensive item that only lasted me 6 months, broke so simply and shortly. i am in great dismay and i will NEVER BUY FROM HERE AGAIN!

So much for such an expensive item

i bought this item a year ago and i have always relied on it to hold massive amounts of stuff and it always has until this dreadful morning. this bag snapped. it snapped. i fell over and scraped my knee, staying there for a couple seconds, recovering both physically and mentally from mourning this bag. i put the bag down and i noticed that the bag had a exceedingly large rip on the side. furthermore, it came to my attention that both of the zips had as a matter of fact been broken. I was devastated and appalled at how such an expensive item could have broken so simply. I then proceeded to throw it in the bin as it no longer mattered to me. it was dead to me. useless.

No water bottle sleeve

It is very roomy and holds a lot of things. It could use an additional outside pocket for keys or passport. The biggest problem is that there is no sleeve for a water bottle. In addition, the sleeve to use for sliding onto a luggage handle is really tight - almost impossible to slide on easily. I will not use this bag in the future - I now have a backpack that I really cannot use.

I love my Kånken 15" laptop bag so much. I first purchased it using Christmas money while on a trip to Sweden when I was eight years old in 2013 and have used it as my schoolbag every single day for the past 11 years in addition to taking it on 20+ international and domestic trips. While it does have some very small holes from intensive use, it still functions perfectly normally and I would be bringing it to my freshman year in college if it were not for the fact that my new laptop does not fit (I bought the 17" to bring with me.) Seriously though, I have grown up with this bag and it's really worth the money.

I bought my backpack 6 years ago and it’s still holding strong. It’s my go to travel backpack. It’s been to several national parks to several countries I’ve even used as a diaper bag since my husband wanted something more manly for him to carry. I’ve since bought 2 more for husband and my son. Will definitely buy more in the future.

I USEEE my backpacks, and used to have to buy about 1-2 a year because they would rip up and become unusable. I got my last one before freshman year of high school, and it lasted me until the end of sophomore year of college (almost 6 straight years of heavy use!!). It also CURED my back pain I'm not even joking. I'll never buy another brand of backpack ever again and I always recommend a fjallraven to my friends looking for a new backpack

Ox Red 15-inch laptop backpack

I am 5' 1', using this bag as a purse, work bag, and school bag. I do not find it too big, but I am not tall or petite, and I like big bags. Having the laptop padded section and the zipper inside the bag on the flap is wonderful. I had a classic Kånken, but I gave it away because it did not have the storage I needed that this 15-inch laptop backpack has. Also, I did not like the pastel color I chose. I am very happy with my purchase. Some people talk about the white streaks on the bags. I believe it may be the wax coating, which is normal. The laptop section is an excellent storage space when I don't carry a laptop or iPad. I removed the seat pad (but kept it) and used that space to separate some of my personal items.

I bought the Kanken Laptop 15" in black and it was already faded in places where it was creased when I received it. I thought it was just dust but that wasn't the case. It's a decent bag otherwise, but it looks like it's 5 years old even though I've had it for under a month.

Fantastic and versatile!

I have the 15” version and it’s fantastic! Easily holds my 16 inch MacBook Pro and just as securely holds my work laptop which is a 13 inch Microsoft Surface. Despite this laptop being much smaller than intended is is still held securely. I also find this version of Kanken much better thought-out than the original. This one has padded shoulder strips and extra pockets that the original doesn’t have. My laptop version also seems to have a much deeper main compartment than the original. I brought an original after I’d been using my laptop Kanken for sometime and was very disappointed. My advice is even if you don’t intended to use as a laptop bag pay the extra and get the laptop version over the original.

Not a great choice for me

About this item about 6 months ago and have used it many times for traveling. I don't like it because the canvas attracts all manner of Lent hair and fibers that show up really badly and makes it look dirty. Even running your hand across it can pick up some skin residue. It's also heavy because of the thick canvas. Finally, the side pockets are too small for a standard round water bottle.

I did not imagine that a backpack can be so durable and good-looking at the same time. You can really feel that weight is allocated evenly, which means that carrying the bag is much easier than expected. Additionally, I ordered the one with 15” laptop compartment, however, my 16” macbook pro fits in perfectly.

Good Quality and Well Made
Originally posted on Fenix Outdoor
This backpack is awesome! I’ve had it for 3 years and use it every day for school and even for trips. It is very well made and I love it. I plan on having this thing throughout high school at least, as these bags are known for lasting quite a few years. When I first ordered this bag, I was looking for a school backpack that was well made so I could use it for a long time, cute and simple, and had enough space so I could fit all of my school supplies in there yet wasn’t too bulky and easier to transport. I already had one of their mini backpacks that I got for a gift a few years ago, I love it and used it a lot as well. Initially, I knew that these bags were pretty expensive, so the thought of buying one hardly crossed my mind, but after reading about it online I understood the appeal. Not only do they last a long time but they are made sustainably and with hardier material that works decently for the outdoors as well. And while it took some convincing from my mom, I ended up getting it, and let me say it has done what I need and has maintained quality. Here are a few more things to note: Quality- Truly amazing, I don’t know how but I’ve used it daily and it has stayed practically the same. The only things that show any sign of wear are the stitching around the logo(and that's hardly any), and slight wear on the bottom edge where the straps are attached. But I have no concerns about it breaking any time soon. Also, I’ve spilled water on it a couple of times and been through the snow and rain but there's no signs of water damage and it dries quickly as well. I’ve never had any issues with the zippers, and I can count on the handle to hold my lunchbox or a small extra bag. Functionality- While there aren’t a lot of pockets, this bag is still easy to organize for me. It fits my Chromebook that I use for school, a folder or binder, 4 small notebooks, my 32 oz water bottle, a decently large pencil case, one to three books, and a small planner. Plus some snacks or money in the front pocket. That’s all I use for school and it works. The two outside pockets honestly haven’t done too much for me, I have a couple of extra pencils, and I put my phone in them for easy access during class, but they never really fit much beyond that. The laptop pocket is good its nice and padded, which I appreciate as the life of a teen can be tumultuous sometimes and I never have to worry about if my laptop is broken or not. Comfort- All I can say is it's sturdy, the straps are thin and functional, which means they don’t fall off if I’m using both of them, and they aren’t bulky or rub on my skin hardly. The bag itself doesn’t sag and it's supposed to prevent back problems and so far I can’t complain. Design- It’s simple and timeless, and the color holds up well. It's a little dirty from being on the school floor but it doesn’t stain. I like the look a lot, especially as a teen girl with an ever-changing style, I haven’t even thought about getting a new one. Other than that I don’t have much else to say, this works for me and I would recommend it. It's an investment for sure, but if anything, with the long-lasting quality I’m sure it would be cheaper in the long run. And I would say I’ll buy it again but I don’t know if I’ll even need to.

Great laptop pack
Originally posted on Fenix Outdoor
It fits everything that I used to have in a bulky shoulder "courier" bag, but with smaller overall dimensions and easier access to my things with the help of some internal cases for chargers, etc. My 15" laptop just fits! And the pack easily fits under the seat in front while travelling by plane, and is quite easy to access during flight. Small improvements could be to accommodate a larger water bottle and slightly longer shoulder straps.

Good bag but not fit for 15"
Originally posted on Fenix Outdoor
I bought this bag so that I could comfortably bring my laptop with me to work. I love it but it almost didn't fit... My laptop is 36,5 cm instead of 38,1 cm (15") and I had to force a little bit to make it fit, I guess with time it'll be easier but I don't think a laptop that's actually 15" can fit. Overall a good bag though.
