Because it was sold as a bath oil, not perfume, women felt free to enjoy and wear it every day. Instead of using Youth-Dew by the drop, women used it by the bottle. Men loved it too, saying it was "simply the sexiest fragrance ever."

This perfume on me initially smells quite harsh but settles to a wonderful soft, gentle smell which, in my opinion, would suit any age. Perfumes smell different from one person to another and in recent years I have had great difficulty in finding one which I can both live with and enjoy as my chemical make up changes many to a 'pong' on me-no matter how expensive. This one is wonderful-and at one third off the price, a bargain. Thank you M&S

This has most definitely changed. Youth Dew I remember used to be very strong, cloying and powdery. So strong it would leave you struggling for breath sometimes. That's all gone and to my surprise and delight I find it softer and more akin to my beloved Cinnabar of the late 80s. So much so I've switched from Cinnabar to this. The old lady, pungent, knock your socks off intensity has mellowed and I definitely like what Estée Lauder have done to lessen the punch of it. Yes I'd definitely say it's an improvement on its former self and if you liked the original Cinnabar then this will please you.

Have you changed the scent? I sprayed some from the shop I was in and it was awful. I was so disappointed. It didn't smell like Youth Dew atall and I have been wearing it since I was 17 I am 63 now. It was so strong and I didn't recognise it atall. I have literally just run out of my last bottle which always reminds me of Christmas and I wear from October thru to January.

I used to wear this Parfum Spray a lot in the 80's. I loved it and have bought it on and off throughout the years. I always needed to be careful with it as it was quite oily and only needed a small amount to last through the day. I asked my husband to buy it for me recently. Very disappointed, the scent is much more subtle, it is lighter, no oil at all, not the same. You have to use a lot more and still I don't think it produces the same scent.
