They do take a little bit of time to break in. Not very cushy but stable and protective.

Took them to Japan thinking they will be great everyday walking shoes, rain or shine. Terrible for long distance walking, hurt my feet and had to buy another brand while in Japan.

These are very comfortable, especially having feet on the more narrow side. I love the look and feel. Salomon is always my go-to!

I am on the go and haven't starting trail running yet but have done some light running in them. I normally test shoes first to see if I want to even run in them at all. I do like the build of the shoe. I personally would like shoes to be more durable in general withstanding at least 4 runs per week of at least 1 hour per run. Maybe I am a purist but I think that is a fair given the shoe should last at least 3 - 5 years with that schedule with quality materials. I also would like more all-black options like that as it simplifies my choices when I am on the go. I am very happy that you provided this all-black option. I do wish your price points were a bit more competitive or there were sales/more sales- in this I would buy multiples at once.

The ultimate shoe, Owned multiple pairs of these over the last 10 years. Only shoe I’ve ever owned where the tread on the bottom of shoe will wear out before the shoe falls apart.

A durable favorite for decades

After a decade+ and five or six pairs, the Salomon XA PRO 3D GTX has proven itself as the most versatile shoe I own. I wear it roughly 250 days annually for hiking, fishing, hunting, running, and everyday use, and the shoe consistently delivers. The XA PRO strikes the perfect balance between a trail runner and lightweight hiking shoe. It prioritizes stability, protection, and all-day versatility over speed or minimal weight. The GORE-TEX waterproofing is essential for my lifestyle, handling wet trails, stream crossings, and unpredictable weather without fuss. The Quicklace system makes getting on and off effortless, and the stable chassis with grippy outsole handles rocky, mixed terrain reliably. This shoe has earned its stripes through hard use. I've worn through tread multiple times and experienced some heel wear from frequent Quicklace use; but Salomon backed it up with warranty replacements. IMO that's not a flaw; it's evidence of genuine, intensive testing. The XA PRO isn't the lightest or fastest, and it's not a full boot. What it does is handle nearly everything without compromise. It's comfortable enough for everyday wear, capable enough for serious trail work, and reliable enough to stay in heavy rotation year after year. While a stiffer boot makes sense for extremely rocky terrain, the XA PRO covers far more ground far better than any single-purpose shoe. Salomon has refined the shoe over the years with an improved chassis design, better outsole compounds, enhanced wet traction all while keeping the core DNA intact. The improvements make it better without losing what made it great. The Salomon XA PRO 3D GTX isn't flashy, but it's one of the most useful shoes I've found for an active, unpredictable lifestyle. My repeated purchases say what marketing never could: this shoe works.

Ordered these as a replacement for some speedcross Solomon’s that were worn through. These work great for the trails as well as the daily walks of the dog.

The best shoe I've ever owned.

This is at least the 4th pair of these I've owned. I was having Achilles soreness. In 2019 I spent a week wearing the Salomon Quest 4D GTX 2 hiking boots and my Achilles pain cleared up. A local retailer said the XA PRO 3D V9 GTX has the same foot bed and should keep me from having Achilles pain. He was correct. What a relief. In addition I've always had problems with perspiration on my feet. The shoes are well ventilated and I not longer have perspiration problems.

Underwhelming

Toes are too rigid for either walk or run. The lace is too short and since it's permanently attached to the hooks you can't even change it it for a longer one.

These are my first pair of hiking shoes and I would really recommend them. They are stable, supportive and comfortable. I bought them for a hiking holiday in North Wales and they were fantastic and even survived a plunge into some boggy land - feet stayed dry!

Waterproofing not like it used to be

I've been buying these shoes for 10+ years. The waterproofing used to be the bomb! Then about 5 yrs ago it changed. I chalked it up to Covid supply chain issues but the quality never recovered. Now walking in wet grass makes my feet damp, even in a new pair. I still buy them because of my difficult-to-fit feet but it's a bummer they're definitely not like the old days. Also, please add more unisex colors in the men's version! Black, brown and gray are a drag. Or add a wide version of the women's. The men's non-GTX version usually has a few color options so please add to the GTX version

My husband works for UPS and this was a suggested shoe by a coworker its the first time in 10 years working that he has had a pair of work shoes he didnt blow through in just a couple months - he trots 10 plus miles a day outside in the city so he puts on a lot of wear and tear and these are comfortable and very durable! highly suggest!

Comfortable but Noisy
Originally posted on salomon.com

The shoes fit well, but the fabric used to fill the space between the laces and the toe is prone to making a popping sound as I walk. This appears to be caused by the stiffness of this fabric. It is kind of annoying and I'm not sure if this noise will diminish over time.

This is the 7th pair that I have purchased over the years, and I find the quality of the XA PRO 3D GTX continues to be unsurpassed. Accurate sizing, no break-in time, and reliable performance. The no-tie lacing system is a big reason I keep coming back.
