Great for everything

I love these shoes. They are extremely versatile, I have used these for hiking, trail running, at the gym, and just about everything else. The comfort is superb. The lacing system is the best on the market. They are easy to slip on and can easily be tightened up without ever worrying about laces coming undone. They provide stability on most terrains. I first bought the non-GOR-TEX version about 7 years ago. I tried a few other versions of trail running shoes since then and have reverted back. Last year I purchased the GOR-TEX version. There are 3 minor drawbacks. They are a bit warm during the middle of the summer. Second, they are expensive (but you get what you pay for). Third, there are some stress points that start to fail after about a year of hard everyday use. However, Salomon makes up for it with an incredible warranty and the service department second to none. So, I would absolutely recommend these shoes.

These are my second pair of Salomon's. But these are my new favorite for hiking/trail running. Very stable, very grippy, feet stay dry! More flexible than my previous pair. Definitely will repurchase these!

Great shoe - sized small

I love the shoe - it’s my second pair - but they are slightly smaller than my last ones (both size 13). I have tried to use them hoping they would be fine but they hurt my big toe - unfortunately I wore them for a week before I finally admitted to myself that they are too small and now I’m stuck with shoes I can’t wear. An unfortunate waste - but just be aware that the sizes vary so buying online may not be the best option.

Very comfortable. This was my third or 4th pair. Usually one pair lasts a season. Laces on my left shoe just broke after 3 weeks

Big Disappointment

2nd day with my new XA PRO 3D shoes and the top lace grommet pulled out of the shoe. I have had at least a half dozen of these same shoes in the past and wore them until I can’t wear them anymore. Never has a grommet ever pulled out. Noticed that Salomon has changed the grommets from plastic to fabric on all of their shoes. Bad design change and a big disappointment.

I LOVE this style of shoe and wear them year round in Alaska. They are comfortable with great support; the quick laces are convenient and stay in place; and they have great traction and are waterproof but breathable. Because these great shoes don’t come in a women’s 12, I wear a men’s shoe and over the years have been disappointed in the lack of color options…until now. Thank you Salomon for the AWESOME NEW COLORS!. Love these!

Second pair of these I have bought. Arch support is wonderful for my bad back and knees. Wore the first pair for about 3 years. Hopefully another 3 or more on these. Highly recommend. You won’t be disappointed.

Had these shoes for a few years. My go for wet weather conditions in the city or hiking. The rubber by the toe has recently started to rip, so looking to replace it with a new pair.

Great Shoe! The only one that fits...

We purchase this model shoe time and time again - both the gore tex version and the mesh version. For a narrow foot, it is helpful to have the lace thread across the top of the foot as it does, securing the shoe into place. We will continue to buy these, thank you Salomon for continuing to make this model!

This is my 6th pair of Salomons. They have a good feel on the trail giving structure you can rely on. Whether on granite, scrambling, uneven trail, or those steep uphill parts that test your upper legs and stamina, these shoes are there in a way you don't have to think about your footwear while you're trying to do something.

Tough and rugged

I bought these mainly to be able to use to walk the dogs through the winter due to them being waterproof. They hold my feet well and feel really sturdy on off road paths and tracks which is great. They do, however, feel a tad unforgiving on any paved surfaces and the soles do not feel especially cushioned. Perhaps this is the trade off for off road stability…but I would say that I’d find these quite unforgiving to trail run in. They have been completely waterproof so far and don’t feel too hot to wear even when it’s not that cold.

Great but...

I’ve been a big fan of the Salomon brand for years. When it comes to footwear, I’ve owned at least ten different models of your shoes and boots. I currently have the Salomon Quest 4 GTX and the tactical SALOMON QUEST 4D GTX FORCES 2. Unfortunately, the XA PRO 3D V9 has been a real disappointment. After only a few months of mostly urban use, the inner lining at the heel area started to tear, and the Gore-Tex membrane began coming loose and bunching up inside the shoe. The irritation at the heel became so bad that I had to place a small patch inside just to keep wearing them — on shoes only a few months old. The same issue occurred with the non-Gore-Tex version as well (after 3 monts of use), which was another disappointment.

The V9 is narrower than the V8

I have been using this line of Trail runners for many years and model iterations. Both with and without Goretex. Unfortunately this V9 seems to have gone to a narrower design with cramped my right foot toes. Left side is ok but not the right. Also the narrow design won't let me use my old custom orthopedic implants. Is this the end of the line for me and try a different line/manufacturer? A bit disappointed after all of these years.

We're sorry to hear the V9 isn't working for you after so many years of loyalty to this line. Model updates can sometimes result in fit changes that don't work for everyone, even long-time users. We understand how disappointing this is after finding a shoe that worked so well for you over multiple iterations. Thank you for your years of loyalty and for sharing this feedback about the design changes.
