The sizing on these is all wrong - seems to be an M&S thing lately, add at least 1 size up before buying these. A 36 is a 38 and 38 is a 40 for sure on the short leg sizes and probably the range

Bought this matching trousers for my son who needs to wear suit in sixth form. Label says hand wash only which was different from the jacket. Jacket can be machine washed. I used washing machine hardwash cycle to wash twice and the trousers are good as new. So the washing label probably is wrong.

Bought these trousers with the associated jacket to replace an old M&S suit which is now too big for me, having lost weight post retirement, in anticipation of attending a family wedding. The suit looks very classy and fits well in line with the stated sizing. I think I actually paid more than this about 18 years ago for the suit it replaces from M&S so tremendous value IMHO.

My son was pleased with the style and quality. The only problem was that our M&S branch only stocked the suit jackets - a bizarre marketing decision - so the (very helpful) staff had to find a similar product to check sizing, then we had to order the trousers separately. Fortunately it all worked out in the end.

The waistband is secured with a double clip system but I believe that a double button system is preferable to the two clips provided as some of the other pants are provided with. I can't see this system lasting so the first thing that I have to do is get a button fitted
