Perfect shoes... if your son has narrow feet
Yes, I recommend this
Bought these for my 4yo first school year. We measured him in Clarks but his feet are so narrow that all their shoes were too wide for him. Popped into M&S and tried these on in a size down as they didn't have it in store. Could tell they were too tight but that the fit was adapted to his narrow feet. Ordered the correct size online and they fit perfectly. He's worn them everyday since the beginning of September and they are starting to wear off at the front despite the toe reinforcement. Overall very pleased with these as the fit was perfect for us but I think this is a summer shoe and won't last much longer which is a shame at £30.

Need to return
No, I don't recommend this
Bought these for my 8yrs old active son. He has wide feet and they were a good fit. However, after only 7 weeks wear he has managed to scuff all the front leather away and now has a hole in the front of one of them. Qulaity very disappointing. On the other hand my daughters scuff resistant shoes bought from M&S haven't got a mark on them....may need to persuade him to have a pair of these!!!

Fraying front flap
No, I don't recommend this
My son wore it once and the over the foot flap is undoing itself as if the stitching failed. As its a man made finer the fraying is getting worse by the minute. I'm not sure what I can do. Perhaps some glue. I really liked the look and wanted to buy another pair. But for that price, I was expecting better quality and not for the shoe to fall apart on its first wear... Dissapointed.
