Not impressed

Had to purchase 13-14 for an 11yr who isnt big for her age. Tight around the bottom but big everywhere else. Very baggy on hips

Not slim!

massively unflattering on my daughter who is by no means skinny. Far too much fabric around the hips and bottom. Looked like jodhpurs!

Too long
No, I don't recommend this
These are the regulation trousers for my daughters school, she is 5' 2 and these are very long on her. there isn't the option to buy shorter ones - I have enquired even though they are advertised as being available in short. Disappointing that they allow for growth, but not the average 14yr old girl.

Girls school trousers
Yes, I recommend this
We struggled to buy girls school trousers for my daughter who is very slim until finding these trousers from marks and Spencer’s. We found other slim fit ones elsewhere but the material would just hang at the front and they looked silly. These are a lovely shape and fit and we went back to purchase more afterwards because they are the best by far available anywhere. Thank you marks and Spencer’s for making trousers that are not a one size fits all.

Too Big
Yes, I recommend this
The trouser legs were too wide on my daughter she is very slim. I have returned for the slim leg slim fit ones sure these would be fine if the child is not super slim as the quality is great.

Short in length, tiny waist

Didn’t fit my daughter well, returned to store. Good quality material but not suitable for a average sized 11 year old

Nice trousers
Yes, I recommend this
These trousers feel like they'll last a good while (probably longer than they'll fit) but whilst the quality is great, the fit is a bit weird. I have bought the smallest they do 2-3 years for my youngest who started nursery school and these trousers have hips...they needed to be pulled in almost to the last buttonhole on the elastic, but splay out at the hips giving them a really odd shape. For the older sizes, I can understand this design, but for primary school age, it just makes them look odd. Saying that I'm going to try a pair with my 5 year old for the autumn term.

Good quality, reasonably priced but a little tight around the hips.

Not for petite, good for std height young ladies
Yes, I recommend this
These are always too long for my daughter but the waist, hips fit is her preference. It’s a simple home adjustment to the trousers My only problem was using the delivery service as Royal Mail are a poor choice for me.

Ordered these on line no sizing guidance
No, I don't recommend this
Ordered these trousers for my average size 13 year old daughter, as she needs a long leg. There was no mention of waist size when ordering, but age 13 are just below her knee. When they arrived they had a 31 inch waist, she needs a 26 inch. Why don’t you stock school trousers in a waist/length basis. All children are different and generally girls are getting taller, but Not fatter

School Trousrrs
Yes, I recommend this
Have brought these trousers every year for a very tall slim child. The extra hem always comes in handy. They are very hard wearing and wash up beatifully. The adjustable waist is a godsend. I buy the next age up to get longer wear out of them

Better off buying boys' ones
No, I don't recommend this
brought home the boys' ones and girls' ones for my daughter (petite age 10) to try on. The boys' ones are more comfortable and more practical with sensible pockets and of course, half the price (two for £13 not one for £12). Don't know why girls' clothes are more expensive and less practical but fortunately we don't care what the label says and are bringing these back. Also the boys' ones come in different leg length

They lovely. My girl looks like businesswoman now. They were little too small. So I got one size bigger.

Good choice if ‘skinny fit’ is too trendy
Yes, I recommend this
Skinny fit school trousers look no different to leggings to my eye, which look no different to tights. So I’m not happy sending my 11 year old daughter to secondary school in a blazer and tights, effectively :D These Slim Leg cut are the perfect compromise between trendy skinny fit and traditional trouser. Mother and daughter both happy. Bombproof M&S quality schoolwear as always.

Too wide for my 5 year old
No, I don't recommend this
The trousers look nice and stylish, but the fit is not right for my girl. They are the right length, but they are too wide. I had to pull the internal elastic quite a lot, making it look very scrunchy on the back. The worst is that it is then too tight, and the trousers don't have buttons, they are like leggins, but only the back is elasticated, not the front. If the trousers are set to be tight enough to not fall, then she cannot pull them down to go to the toilet. Overall, not a great fit. The ones with the little flowers, which have 2 buttons on the front, fit her very well, pity that they are out of stock.
