Product code: 00043090
A distinctly nutty and apple blossom scented dry un-oaked white wine with an extraordinarily rich taste of blanched almond lifted by succulent tangy lemon flavours and a satisfying savoury dry finish.
This unusual wine comes from deep in Andalucía, southern Spain. Here the sun fully ripens Pedro Ximenez grapes to perfection. Juan Márquez Cellar Master of Perez Barquero showed M&S winemaker Sue Daniels how he crafts this wine style made in large traditional earthenware jars or Tinaja (tin-Yak-ah). Vino de Tinaja is the new vintage wine from these vessels, where the fine yeast ‘flor’ that grows on top of the wine imparts a little nuttiness to enrich this vibrant floral fruit laden wine.

Wine Fresquito Pedro Ximenez
Yes, I recommend this
I am so disapointed this is now out of stock excelent wine , went well with fish, quail and chicken yes it was quite near a sherry taste due to the pedro Ximenez gape . Well done to Marks and Spencer finding a great wine from Cordoba! Their are some great wines in the south of Spain. I hope you continue your search

If only I'd bought a couple of cases
Yes, I recommend this
... when I had the chance. Now that M&S appear to have ceased stocking it, I'll have to source it elsewhere. From the reviews here, it seems that one either loves or hates it – no middle ground. Personally, I think it's excellent in its individuality. An exceptional aperitif.

Outstanding aperitif
Yes, I recommend this
Love Cordoba as a city, and Montilla-Moriles wine in all its forms. This makes a great aperitif, lightly chilled, with nibbles like olives (especially), blue cheese, smoked salmon. It is unfortified, off dry, and just brilliant. Hoping there's some left in the store tomorrow (no longer available online). I'm looking for half a dozen!

Ok if you thought you were ordering Sherry
No, I don't recommend this
Xmenes To me is good sherry but only order this wine if you expect a it to taste like Sherry. Acquired taste maybe. Took me by surprise.

Wine?, more like Sherry.

Probably the worst wine I've tasted since tasting Retsina from Greece!

Not to my taste at all
No, I don't recommend this
Like the look of this wine but when first tasted I thought I'd bought a very dry sherry by mistake. Yes, I know it's aged in sherry caskets but I didnt expect it to taste So much like sherry. Possibly tastes lovely ice cold on a blisteringly hot Spanish summer evening but not a rainy cold one in Scotland. Never thought I'd meet a wine I didn't like.

Reliving Andalusia with a frisky fresquito
Yes, I recommend this
Real breath of Córdoba city life. This delicious wine is dry-sherry dry and dry-sherry scented and is the most delicious wine match with tapas, a picnic or a grazing meal of charcuterie, cheese, bread and pickles amongst others Excellent also as a light sherry aperitif. Already much recommended to friends and enjoyed. Though definitely not for those with a sweet palate. A chance discovery when the modern label design caught my eye but extremely glad to have found it. Buy this by the case!

I think this wine is blimmin' brilliant!
Yes, I recommend this
Amphora wines? Really interested from a historical point of view, but organoleptically have not tasted enough to identify a common character... except, that some of the wines, I think especially whites have a zingyness on the forepalate but the finish can be as loud and abrupt as a slammed door, as final and piquant as accidentally walking into - and then out of again - the Blue Circle cement works. Sense-claggingly blunt. Not finish or length, its more like 'the end'. Maybe that's a little unfair. The wine causing this musing is the wonderfully characterful Fresquito from M&S, has a deeper, more explosive light white come from Montilla? I doubt it! Bonkersly inexpensive, superb wine, I suspect it will last until Brighton and Hove Albion win the Champions League...Blinkin' admirable, buy it before I do!

Wine equivalent of special brew
No, I don't recommend this
This is not 'wine'. It's sherry. All you can taste is the alcohol. Gave them away.

Character for summer (and other) drinking
Yes, I recommend this
I don't like sharp, citric (or sweet) whites; I do like Rhone whites but Condrieu is now too pricey for everyday summer drinking and I also Iike dry sherry. This really hit the spot as a non-sweet, not sharp wine of character that complements a "chilling" and has reminders of both my "likes". Already ordered 2 more cases.

Fabulously different wine
Yes, I recommend this
Really loved this wine, great to have something a bit different. Agree with the "sherry taste" comments but if you like sherry and port then a bottle of this is well worth trying.

Wine
No, I don't recommend this
Sorry, but this wine is undrinkable. The remaining bottles (5) (bought on promotion) will unfortunately have to be disposed of. "Nutty taste" is sadly lacking and overwhelmed by the 14% alcohol. Shame because I expect greater things from M&S ( This is the first time I have complained about a wine!)

Unusual wine
Yes, I recommend this
I have never tasted an unfortified wine like this before. As other reviewers have said it is very like a fino sherry, so if you like sherry go with my ratings, if not this is possibly not the wine for you. I shall be saving the other bottles until I can serve it very cold when the weather is warm enough to enjoy a glass in the garden.

A very heady white
No, I don't recommend this
I am somewhat disappointed with this wine. It has a very high alcohol content for a white (14%) and a heavy, almost sherry-like taste. I shall not be buying it again.
