A full-bodied unoaked Spanish red scented by wild blackberries alongside herbs and juicy mulberry flavours with a twist of fig and liquorice.
The historic Priorat wine region in northeast Spain is famed for its mineral-rich Llicorella slate soil and steeply terraced vineyards on craggy hills. M&S winemaker Sue Daniels was delighted to find this wine made by Sandra Estevez at Priorat’s oldest co-operative, using Grenache and Cariñena grapes from gnarled old vines. Sandra has used minimal treatments to retain flavour which may result in a small harmless deposit in the bottle.

Had this with pheasant casserole - just great! One of those wines you could chew, very fruity and gutsy. Hope it doesn't get too popular ! BTW a very helpful and pleasant lady in the Bromley store. Always go there for my wine now.

Uncork and let it breathe for a few hours whilst you prepare your steak cooked medium rare and served with roasted crushed potatoes, green beans, broccoli and asparagus. Maybe a drop left for the cheese plate?

High alcohol content a bit too apparent
No, I don't recommend this
I love many Priorats, so was intrigued by this one, offered at a very reasonable price. Nicely made, from a co-operative M&S notes, but quite youthful, and though the fruit is well concentrated, to my taste it is overpowered by the 15% abv. So not quite the find I had hoped, or one to savour over an evening - Priorat is by definition 14% or more alcohol, but many seem to wear it more lightly.
