Less well known than its famous relatives, this ancient white variety, Pinot Blanc or Weissburgunder, nevertheless produces stunning wines. It is a rare, but versatile grape, even in its native home in Germany, matching with many foods. Winemaker Gerd Stepp, who produces this example exclusively for MandS, recommends drinking it with pan seared river trout and white asparagus. Best enjoyed chilled within 2 years of purchase.
