Sadly it appears that the plunger mechanism is not dishwasher proof according to instructions so that does make it less than functional in this day and age !!

Returned this item as I was not happy with the quality. The handle was not comfortable to hold and I was concerned that when full it might've been difficult to handle safely.

Yes, it is a classic design, looks good and works well but be aware that there is no replacement glass available to purchase. Mine was accidentally broken within a couple of months.
