Our M&S Select Farms apples and pears are in abundance right now and we've got loads of lovely ways to enjoy them
M&S Select Farms Envy apples are pure, dense apples with a wonderfully good crunch and a refreshingly sweet flavour.
Their beautiful bright skin means they look great in salads or layered on top of tarts and pies - and their sweet, long-lasting flavour make them perfect for toffee apples.
M&S Select Farms conference pears are grown in Britain by farmers we know and trust. Taste-tested for sweetness, they're picked at their peak for a perfect ripeness and sweet, mellow fragrant flavour.
Try them poached in spiced red wine, baked in a squidgy chocolate pear pudding or fried with pork and onions for a really special dinner.
Sweet and delicious, Envy apple mulled cider is a wonderful warmer on a cool autumn evening.
Ingredients (serves 6)
1.5l dry cider
500ml of cloudy apple juice
2 Envy apples
3 cinnamon sticks, snapped in two
1 tbsp cinnamon
75g brown sugar
3 cardamom pods, slightly crushed
In a large pan, slowly heat the cider and the cloudy apple juice with the sliced apples, cinnamon sticks, cinnamon, cardamom, brown sugar and lemon zest. Add a dash of spiced rum/brandy (optional). Wait for the mulled cider to cool then pour and garnish with apple slices and a cinnamon stick.
Blogger Izy Hossack loves working with seasonal food. Her toffee-apple Bundt cake, made with a scrumptious toffee glaze, looks fancy but is really easy to make, thanks to the decorative Bundt pan.
