Product code: T237781U

The last step of your wash day routine and the first in your styling. This priming leave-in for curly hair protects from the drying effects of the sun, instantly reduces frizz by 87%, and detangles to reduce breakage from combing. It fortifies and smooths curls and coils, creating the perfect foundation and allowing flexibility for the styling products that come next. Curls, coils and waves are naturally more fragile, which is why our game-changing curly hair primer also replenishes strength with a peptide derived from plant proteins. All curl types: coily (4A - 4C), curly (3A - 3C) and wavy (2A - 2C). All hair types: fine, medium and thick. Created with our expert team of texture stylists. 97% naturally derived. Vegan. Leaping Bunny Approved.

REGIMEN: Tight curls and coils: On wash days, use be curly advanced™ shampoo, intensive curl perfecting masque and curl perfecting primer, then style with coil definer gel. Between wash days, swap shampoo for the co-wash to gently cleanse and condition curls and coils without stripping. Follow with masque, primer and gel. Wavy and loosely curly hair: On wash days, use be curly advanced™ shampoo, conditioner and curl perfecting primer, then style with curl enhancer cream. Swap conditioner for the intensive curl perfecting masque every 2 - 3 wash days, depending on your individual hair needs. INGREDIENTS: Vegan curl-perfecting peptide: Powerful peptide blend derived from hydrolyzed pea and vegetable proteins for stronger curls, coils and waves. Peptide with low molecular weight penetrates and fortifies vulnerable strands. 17 essential amino acids. Kokum seed butter: Deeply nourishes and conditions, and provides slip and detangling to help reduce breakage of curls, coils and waves. Silicone free. Testing on tresses. Per ISO Standard 16128, from plant sources, non-petroleum mineral sources, and/or water.

Don't understand the point of this

Originally posted on Aveda UK

I reluctantly bought this at the same time as the new 'improved' (and no, it isn't, it's so much worse than the old formula) be curly curl enhancer cream, as the Aveda rep told me it was an essential part of the process. As far as I can tell this primer is just a way to fleece you into buying an unnecessary extra product. I've used it both as advised with the enhancer cream, and alone (and have used the enhancer cream alone to complete the scientific experimentation!) and I don't see the point of it. It makes my hair dry and matted and completely dulls any shine, as well as not helping to combat frizz or enhance my waves. It does smell delicious, but you could spend the money on a fancy scented candle which would smell just as nice and probably actually be better for your hair. I'm so disappointed that Aveda has changed the formula of their curl styling products - the previous be curly cream was perfect. Don't waste your money.

Bring Back Style Prep

Originally posted on Aveda UK

Just wanted to add my request that you bring back the Style Prep... It really is frustrating when you've been using a product that really works, and then the formula is changed or it's discontinued...

Very disappointing!

Originally posted on Aveda UK

Bought this at an Aveda concession in a department store as was told the old be curly style prep was no longer available. It's nowhere near as good, in fact I'm thinking of getting rid of it as it leaves my hair looking dry, frizzy and just awful/lacklustre. The old one was great, especially when it was humid / I was travelling to humid countries - did you test the new product on people with curly hair before you launched it??

Substitute for Be Curly Style Pre

Originally posted on Aveda UK

I use Be Curly Advanced Curl Perfecting Primer as a substitute for Be Curly Style Prep which is no longer available. It works okay but it does not set my curls nearly as well.

I'VE USED BE CURLY FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS!

Originally posted on Aveda UK

I USE THE FULL BE CURLY ADVANCED SYSTEM WHICH WORKS REALLY WELL FOR MY HAIR TYPE. I FIND IT EXPENSIVE, BUT NATURAL INGREDIENTS ARE IMPORTANT TO ME. MY ONLY REQUEST FOR THIS PRODUCT IS THAT THE SPRAY CONTAINER BE REVIEWED, AS IT'S UNCOMFORTABLE TO USE ON YOURSELF AND CAN PINCH/CUT YOUR FOREFINGER IN THE PROCESS.

Nowhere near as good as the old style prep

Originally posted on Aveda UK

The disappointment I felt when realising that the old style prep gel had been removed was only furthered on trying this new product, my curls feel dryer, limper and frizzier since changing to this product despite that none of the rest of my routine has changed. Definitely no good for my wavy hair type so I'm having to look elsewhere for an alternative product.

A step backwards

Originally posted on Aveda UK

So sad when you find the perfect product for your hair then Aveda chooses to reformulate. The result, my hair now turns frizzy and lacklustre. Given the other reviews on here, I'm wondering who you really tested it on. Please, please make the old formula available again. I'm already searching for an alternative elsewhere since nothing in this "advanced" product line is a good as the old versions.

Very surprised!

Originally posted on Aveda UK

In the beginning I was a little sceptical about the product, because I have fine hair. I was afraid that product would be too heavy for my hair, but it really helped my curls to get more defined and I used the product in combination with the new curl enhancer. That made my hair less frizzy for three days straight.

It's ok but nowhere near as good as style prep

Originally posted on Aveda UK

So sad that Style prep is no more! This product has replaced it and it is nowhere near as good sadly. Makes my hair feel greasy and style prep never did. I am on the search for alternatives. Please bring back style prep!

NOWHERE NEARLY AS GOOD AS THE PREVIOUS FORMULATION

Originally posted on Aveda UK

Very disappointed with the new formulation after using the previous one for the last few years. Felt heavy and greasy even before adding the curl enhancer. I also preferred the old pump action to the spray that requires holding of breath to prevent inhalation. Please bring back the original version!!! I will be looking for alternatives.

Disappointed

Originally posted on Aveda UK

Much like the other review said, bring back the curly style prep! Aveda replaced the curly style prep with this product and although it has 100ml more in the bottle, it is much more watery and takes much more product to get an OK finish so the bottle doesn't last long, and my hair is still frizzy and nothing like it used to be with their other products. Very disappointed that I have to trial and error other products to get my routine back.

Sorry. Nothing positive to say. Curly hair became a sticky, lank then frizzy mess.
