Very comfortable shoes with relatively soft rubber soles. These are essential for me as my heels are damaged.

Great lightweight casuals
Great lightweight casuals with wide fitting. Comfortable, with padded insole. Great for travelling and three season wear, spring, summer, and autumn.

Noticeably narrower than previous version
No, I don't recommend this
So I've been wearing this make of shoe for the last 3 years, having bought a pair in 2018 but left them in storage for a while. I've nearly worn them out (including burst seams, I make shoes work for their money), so I went to the store to replace them with the same make. But they were too narrow. Actually, I was able to compare them with the ones I was wearing, and they were between 5 mm and 10 mm narrower all along the length of the shoe, which was also more pointed at the toe. This isn't a mistake, it has been done on purpose, apparently to save materials. Actually I would much rather pay an extra 10 or even 20 pounds for a shoe which is actually a good fit. Very sad really that they did this. I didn't buy them, but may have to if my current ones give up completely.

My husband has wide feet and it’s been hard to find shoes he likes to wear that are comfortable. These ones are great, he wears them all the time.

Hard leather
No, I don't recommend this
It's astonishing that M&S have ruined this style of shoe that has been so comfortable in the past. Previous versions had lovely soft leather uppers and fitted well, the latest version has hard inflexible leather and doesn't even fit properly. I didn't buy it

Version 4 of this once superb model is horrible
No, I don't recommend this
This review is purely for those who have bought this model through its previous 3 revisions over the last 16 years. In my experience this is the 4th version of this shoe over the last 16 years and whilst all previous versions evolved well, this one is a terrible let-down. First problem : One thing that manufacturers forget in the case of long running models like this one, is that over the years they build a large number of followers of specific models, many of which will have custom-made insoles specifically for that model, like me. Well, with this model you will have to have your £150 insoles re-made because the back of this shoe is so high, you will end up walking on your toes. You will need new custom-made insoles where the heel of your insoles has had 3mm shaved off, possibly 4mm. 2nd problem : Toes ! With past models of this shoe, and many other Wide-Fit models at M&S, the designers understood that if you need wide-fit this almost always means you also need more upward room for your toes. Not with this one. 3rd problem : Again, with past wide-fit models the designers understood that the front of the shoe needs to be more rounded than normal shoes. Not this one. 4th problem : even with insoles with height shaved off the heel, the incredibly high back of these shoes is such that you end up hitting the ground with the back of the heel at all times. As a result the heel wears out much more quickly than with any of the previous iterations of this shoe - in simple terms this £60 shoe will no longer last you as long as it used to just because of abnormal high wearing out of the heel. 5th problem : the sole. Soles with this tread design are an absolute nightmare - they gather water on rainy days, they gather rubbish in those deep but narrow grooves and, low and behold, make sure you never tread on mud (or worse) because then it is a major cleaning job with a special brush. So, the most fantastic brilliant Wide-Fit M&S shoe of the last 16 years has been destroyed in one wand of a designer : toes squashed down and sideways, insoles to be re-made, abnormal forward leaning, heels which wear out abnormally fast and a sole which gathers everything from water, to rubbish, and worse. Grrrrrr
