Should curtains touch the floor?

Many people find the room more pleasing to look at if the curtains touch the floor, but there are different choices. Curtains can either puddle on the floor, float above the floor or gently touch it, depending on what design aesthetic you want to create. Which you go for can depend on your fabric, design and who you live with. For example, when curtains puddle, this can cause a trip hazard, so it may not be practical in some households.

How do I calculate the size of curtains I need?

First, you need to measure the width of your window and add 15-20cm on either side. Then you need to decide on the length, depending on whether you want them to touch the floor or finish at the bottom of the window. Once that’s sorted, you can measure the drop. What’s the difference between curtains and drapes?
