Great shirt but confusing sizing

I bought this shirt originally in size 16. I tried it on with a T shirt underneath, as I'd wear it in cold weather, and it was a little tight across the chest. I reordered in size 18, tried it on, and it felt exactly the same. I measured both shirts pit to pit and they were identical! The size 18 was longer in the body and sleeves, but the same chest measurement? What's going on, Whitestuff? Excellent shirt otherwise. Love the new green fabric.
