Moab 3 Waterproof Walking Boots

Good general boot, lacks some ankle support. Not enough grip in ice.

This is my fourth pair of Merrell Moabs. First the Moab twice, then the Moab 2, and now Moab 3. My go-to for everything from working, long walks, hiking, and in the snow. I'm a size 6.5, have a wider front foot, narrow heel, high arch. The Moab gives me room in the toe box, at the same time cradles my heel area, and does not cramp my high arch even when I'm in them all day, five days in a row. These have been truly out-of-the-box comfortable and supportive for me and stay that way until the treads are totally worn. Incredible boots! I highly recommend them!

Just like my Moab 2, these required no break in. I use them as my winter and snowshoeing boots as well. One thing that works for me is buying a full size larger than my usual shoe size. One flaw. There's nowhere on the back of the boot that has a smooth surface to stick the Velcro strip for my Dirty Girl gaiters. There's a weird piece of ribbon loop back there that doesn't do anything and it's in the exact spot where I used to have a smooth rubber surface to stick the strip on my previous Moabs. if I put a wider Velcro across that ribbon loop to attach to the rubber on either side, then it's too wide and I end up with naked Velcro on either side that's snagging on everything after the gaiter is on. In the photo, the new one is on the left and the old one is on the right.

I had the non Gortex Merrill's and they worked fine but these are really great! Did not require any breaking in and was able to walk on slippery steep trails will ease. They will work great on difficult to intermediate trails .

I purchased this during Black Friday for half off and hiked in Guatemala with them. They got me through my volcano hike and more.

Such comfortable hiking shoes! Wore them in Costa Rica for long hikes and did great with uneven and wet terrain

I purchased two options for my daughter. She preferred the lighter color.

Great fit….lightweight for packing purposes. Toured France, Germany and Switzerland. Especially great on slippery stones at the Marksburg Castle. Shoes allowed excellent grip of cobblestones and uneven surfaces. Great support.
