Extreme conditions for a year… AMAZING!

Buy these shoes at any price! That’s how good they are. For real. I got these and put them through extreme wet conditions that would have immediately destroyed most other shoes. I wore them completely submerged in knee deep salt water while spear fishing flounder… for months. I wore them while trying to save a sunken sailing yacht covered in slippery algae… tread so grippy I felt like Spider-Man. Afterwards I’d hose them off inside and out with a water jet nosel and hung them upside down to dry in the sun… they looked brand new for months. I don’t know how much research went into the development of these shoes, but I can confidently say that Merrell got it right… better than right with these. After using these shoes through the harshest of conditions for over a year, it’s time for another pair and I can’t wait to get ‘em.

I purchased the Moab 3 waterproof mid hiking boots and have worn them about a month. They are remarkable and have performed well in every habitat. I am a birder and do 5 to 19 thousand steps a days d the Moab 3 boots are a perfect choice.

NEED TO GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD

So here goes the shoe looks fantastic and that it!! There is no support whatsoever ,there is no structure to keep your feet from swimming side to side I laced to a point that I thought I was either going snap the laces or put my feet to sleep from constriction!!! To label them As RUGGED is a joke!! The sole is way too forgiving They need to go back to the drawing board on this !!!

So comfortable I bought another for everyday use!

This is my second pair. I bought the low rise for hiking and they are amazing. So comfortable this is my second pair for everyday use. Grippy, quiet, waterproof and fits my narrow high arch feet perfectly. From flat grassy terrain to bouldering at over 13000 feet in Wyoming these are the best hikers I've ever worn. I consider myself an experienced hiker with several 20-85 mile non stop hikes under my belt. Buy these you wont be disappointed.

This is my 2nd pair of hiking Moab boots. I thought they would cope in winter, but no, it was a bit cold. The GOR-TEX waterproofing did its job well!

Good looking boot, questionable quality

I replaced my "regular" Moab 3s with the gortex version and right out of the box I was disappointed. Purchased online in October and when I put them on they didn't have the same snug fit of my old Moabs. (Even with a wool sox, there's just to much wiggle room.) The boots were water proof for a hot minute. I live in an urban area, not a lot of streams to cross; but my feet still get wet. Boot doesn't even have to be submerged, just some water on the mesh does the trick. I have since purchased a pair of non- gortex Moabs. I'll save the gortex for a dry summer hike or dress down day in the office.

Shoes Leak

ended up with 3 pairs of these Moab 3's and they are NOT waterproof in the least. All three pairs leak and absorb water like a sponge. Merrell should declare a recall on the goretex moab 3's. Totally defective. DO NOT BUY. Buy an older pair of Moab 2's in goretex ... they work great.

A new look on a tried and true hiking boot.

A new look on a solid product. I have been wearing Moab hiking shoes now for quite a few years. The Moab 3’s are are decent upgrade with additional side support that I feel the OG Moab’s did not have. The color option is nice too truthfully always had brown colored ones and the green is nice.

Great shoe - exactly what I wanted and needed

I purchased this boot for day hikes in the upper Midwest. I haven’t actually had them in the rain yet, so can’t comment on the waterproofing. But for comfort they are unparalleled. No break in required. I really appreciate a heavier lug sole (I prioritize stability and protection for my middle-aged feet and ankles) and plan to take these on some longer hikes next year. I’m a big fan of the traditional design and appearance of the traditional Moab 3.

Horrible Boots

Worst boots, false advertising! My husband’s feet are soaking wet just from walking in the snow. They do not dry fast. It is advertised as waterproof and they definitely are not. Would not recommend. Highly disappointed. A-lot of money spent for a pair of work boots to come home with wet cold feet.

Great choice as a medium hiking boot

My wife and I just used our Moab 3's to hike a portion of the Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain. The boots held up well, providing great traction in a variety of trail conditions from pavement to dusty roads to hiking over boulders, slag and scree. A couple of days of hiking in the rain as well and our feet stayed dry too. All in all, a great light hiking boot. I would only mark it down a 1/2 star if I could as the sole of the boot is a little too flexible when we were on the steeper descents on the most rocky sections of the trail. I felt the uneven terrain through the soles of my feet just a bit too much. So, if you are looking for a really technical heavy duty hiking boot, not sure that this is the one I'd recommend; however, for a boot that covers 90% of the trail conditions we encountered, this is a great choice. We were carrying fairly light packs of about 20 lbs and averaging around 10 miles a day. I find Merrell's run true to size for me so I wore my regular size. My wife sized up a 1/2 size to allow for a thicker hiking sock and for any foot swelling during our hike.

Good boot overall, not waterproof

This is a great fitting hiker, comfortable right out of the box. The wide widths are appreciated for my very wide and flat feet. The Vibram soles are aggressive and grippy, but I've only put about 50 miles on this pair so i can't say how well they will stay attached. The boots are not truly waterproof, more like very water repellent. There is some pinhole leakage in the GoreTex liner, noticeable when the boot is submerged (crossing a creek in my case). I dont know if this is a manufacturing issue with the seams or if something is wrong with the membrane itself. Not a big deal in summer, but you will want to bring spare socks in cold weather.

Great hiking boot but replace annually

Not what I expected.

Definitely a down grade compared to my Moab 2's. The 3's are about 4oz lighter. The padding by the ankle is thinner and the insole is not as soft. All in all, they just seem kinda cheap. I will keep them because they fit. I have a hard time finding boots that fit.
