What is shower gel?

Shower gel is a liquid soap you can use wash your body in the shower. Its purpose is to clean the body by cleansing it of excess oil, sweat and dirt without drying the skin. You can buy unscented shower gels that work for sensitive skin, and scented options to add some pleasant fragrance to your daily routine. Expect scents like invigorating menthol, calming lavender and gentle rose.

How do I use shower gel?

After rinsing your body with water, you can squirt a bit of shower gel from the bottle into your hands and create a lather before washing your body. You can also use a sponge or flannel to apply it. If you want to add some exfoliation, a body mitt or glove works well. Finally, rinse the shower gel off and continue with your routine.

What’s the difference between shower gel and body wash?

There isn’t much difference between shower gel and body wash – both products are used to clean the skin of dirt, sweat and excess oil. Shower gels can have a thicker, jelly-like consistency, though, which can create a richer lather than you might get with some body washes.

How much shower gel should I use?

Start with squirting a small amount into your hand to create a good lather, and then add more if needed. Using too much shower gel can sometimes dry out your skin, so it’s best to start with a smaller amount.
