HYPER SPEEDY to the MAX!

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

LOVE THIS SHOE! Initial size was too small. I tried them on in store and it felt right but I could feel my toes going a bit numb towards the end of 8 mile runs. I also got a blister on my lateral ankle. Went a half size up (which is my usual size) and they're great! VERY bouncy and so light! They have a slight rocker feel but not to much. They could use a bit more traction in wet conditions but transition between paces pretty well and are so fun to run in!

10/10

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

The perfect running shoe!!! 10/10 the only cheviot is this is must try on in store shoe. I’m usually a size 10 women’s but 10.5 for running shoe. I needed up needing a size 9 in men’s. Fit *amazing* but never would have been able to figure out the size online.

Best long run shoe ever

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

These are my favorite long run shoe I’ve ever had. They are comfy, great at various paces, and keep my lower legs happy. I have a history of shin splints, and these have given me zero problems. Fantastic shoe. I just wish there were more colors so I could buy more!

LOVE!!! Hyperion 3 Max is AWESOME!!!

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

I almost didnt get the Hyoerion 3 Max because of the reviews. Ive used (and worn out) the hyperion 2 max, glycerin stealth, glycerine GTS, and 3 pairs of Caldera. I tried the Adrenaline GTS, which totally messed up my knee after 3 uses (30 miles). It felt like they were tearing my meniscus. I think i am not built for a 12 heel toe drop. The Hyperion Max 3 is AWESOME!!! I mean COMPLETELY AWESOME!!! They feel lightweight and bouncy and I dont feel like I have to keep my feet further.Apart because of the wide base, because the base on these is more narrow. And it gives you the support that a g t s shoe does because of the weight that the upper kind of locks your foot in place. There's no side to side movement. Which I really need so that I don't get injured. When it's brand new, it can feel a little tight to get into.I just have to loosen up the laces, and the little loop on the back really helps get your foot in. I like that.My foot feels snug in the shoe and my toes can still move around. But my foot feels very secure in the shoe, and that is very important. After just one use, i could feel the cushioning start to repair the issue with my knee. That the other shoe had caused. It let my foot land on a cushioned surface. I couldn't even run in it at first because my knee was so hurt from the adrenaline. But it's been less than a week now and my knee is completely healed using the Hyperion Max 3. The cushioning is superb it is soft, and I would just like to thank the developers, because it does not feel like you're running on two foam bricks.Anymore like it did with the Hyperion Max 2. That feeling of walking on foam bricks is gone. I can also feel a major difference with the rocker plate. They put in there. The heel toe transitions are quick and seamless. It feels very natural. I normally hit center to back of foot on landing. In the very back corner of the shoe on the outer left, it needs a teeny, tiny bit more of a base, for those of us that sometimes hit more on the heel on the landing. It is so much better than the hyperion 2 max, though, because I always felt with that shoe that I had to keep my foot perfectly centered on landing. There is more room to land safely without compensating with the Hyperion 3 Max. It's so cushiony. It feels like you're walking and running on clouds without any bulk. It keeps your energy because the shoe does not feel heavy after you've been going for a while. It feels still springy and energetic. When I first put them on, I wanted to just jump and bounce. 😃 they are a really fun shoe! And not that this matters at all, but I never received a compliment with any running shoes before, and with these, i've had neighbors actually stop me.And tell me they love my shoes and ask me what they were. So if you are on the fence about these shoes, I could not recommend them more highly. I go ten to twelve miles per day minimum. I go through many brooks shoes. For me, these are the right balance of very cushioned, super soft landings, without any bulk. And for the record, I have a WIDE foot. The way that the opera is made Goes around your foot. Perfectly. It does not feel narrow. It does not feel tight. And my ankle stays firmly in place. my dress shoe is a 9.5 W or 10, and my Hyperion 3 Max is a 10 it is plenty wide and I have room in the toe box after 3 uses... the toe box stretched a tad. I love these shoes. LOVE!!!

Positive update

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

I like these better than the Hyperion Max 2. The updated version feels softer but still feel very stable in the hindfoot. They may be a little heavier, but they still have a great forward propulsion. I have narrow to medium width feet and have issues with shoes with the voluminous toe boxes. They have a little more medial to lateral toe box room compared to the Max 2, but the toe box height seems shallow. This may be due to the protective toe cap? This may give the impression that they run short for the stated size. We need to see a darker color for this model...how about grey with a bright accent? Not everyone likes black (especially when wearing shorts)!!

HM3 Total Blast

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

This show is my new Go To, it is so versatile and comfortable. It starts out comfy but gets even better with some miles. I enjoyed the HM2 but this one is so much better. So much love for these that I have more than one pair. Great colors, hopefully even more colors to come in the future. I would give this shoe many more stars if I could. Thanks Brooks Team for knocking this one out of the park! Fit, feel, and so much fun to run in!!

Other than that this is an obviously beautiful shoe, it’s a complete disappointment after the perfection that was the Hyperion Max 2. Ridiculously narrow toe box, impossible to maneuver laces, ultra tight sock-like opening. It’s like they made a shoe for a praying mantis instead of a human. After squeezing my foot in, I made it exactly 3 houses down the street before I realized my foot bones would shatter if I kept running. And I can’t even size up to fix it because I had at least a half inch extra in front of my toe. PLEASE FIX THIS SHOE. Bring back the fit of the Max 2 please!!

Cushiony, Quick Transitions, Bad for High Arches

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

Hopefully this hyper specific review helps someone! I wanted to love these but they just didn’t work for me. I have high arches and over pronation, and am currently training for a marathon. For my first couple runs in these, the shoes were so tight and the laces so short that I could just barely double knot them. Eventually, they loosened up and from miles ~25-75 these were great. After 75, things started going downhill and by mile 100, they were so loose my feet were sliding around in the shoe making my over pronation worse, but I couldn’t tie them any tighter or they would hurt the top of my feet because of my high arches. All that said, the cushion on these is incredible and the transitions are a breeze.

Great trainer

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

I have about 175 on my pair so far, and they seem to be holding up well. I would imagine these lasting 350-400 miles for me. I’ve used them for long runs, tempo runs, and speed work on the track and they’ve been good for everything. They are fairly light even with the thick midsole and the DNA gold gives provides responsiveness when running. I haven’t had any stability trouble with the thick midsole. I do really like the cushioned portion of the upper under the laces as this really helps prevent lace bite. The pull tab on the heel is a nice feature as well. I would buy again and would love to see more colorways in this model.

Not the best shoes for running

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

I feel like these would be great walking shoes as they are light, cushioned and feel great on the feet when walking. However, all of that goes away when you start running in them they become heavy and really firm, the bounce, cushion and lightness all go away. I run about 3-4 times a week and am trying to increase my mileage and based on running reviews these were a good option. I have 3 runs in these shoes and unfortunately these are not working out for me. My first run in them, I was barely able to run 2 miles and had to stop. My feet hurt they felt heavy and it was just so hard to push through. My second run was even worse, I was only able to run 1.2 miles and my 3rd run I was only able to reach 1.5 miles before I had to stop when I can usually run 4-7 at a time. These made the bottom of my feet hurt and no matter how hard I tried my feet did not let me run more and they made my knees so sore. I strength train and do Pilates every week and this is the first time a shoe took made me run slower and caused pain. This was my second time trying Brooks with a shoe did not workout for me.

Thoroughly Enjoy

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

As someone who has to go fast for further distances, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed these. I really feel like you get out what you put in. The giveback from the plate is nice and the shoe is comfortable. I see comments about “pain” from the shoe, but I have had no issues. I did have to go up half a size, so the problems people are experiencing could be from incorrect sizing and not the shoe in its entirety. Good job to Brooks for upgrading the shoe game!

Disappointed

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

Please stop changing all the good things from the previous models (and making it more expensive). Could have just added cushioning to the 2 and would have been great. I was excited to try this, but very disappointed. The upper is not good (previous was one of best I've ever worn, as were the laces, which also changed), and too heavy. Also wider than the previous and not as good fit. I've worn brooks on and off for 20 years and every time a shoes is good, they make too many changes and I have to find something totally different.

Painful

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

I have worn over 20 pairs of Brooks including Launch, Ghost, Hyperion Elite, Max, original and Tempo. These are the 1st pair that hurt the top of my feet and my toes so bad. By mile 4 my toes were throbbing and continued to hurt for days. I'm so disappointed. I wore out 2 pairs of Hyperion Max. They were my absolute favorite. These were a gift so I'm stuck with them.

Disappointed

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

I was pretty excited to get these however noticed quickly they were very different than the 2s. I gave them a chance for a couple of runs but it lead to increased heal pain and overall felt more unstable. The 2s felt more effortless and fast. Unfortunately I will be returning them I just wish the 2s were still available.

Narrow toe box

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

I LOVED my Hyperion Max 2s and was so excited to order these. Unfortunately, the toe box is SIGNIFICANTLY narrower in the 3s compared to the 2s which is not working out well for my bunions. For this reason, unfortunately, I will be returning.

Different Shoe from Max 2

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

If you're used to the Hyperion Max 2s, this is a very different shoe in my opinion. I have been marathon training in my 2s after being fitted for them post right ankle injury. I loved everything about the 2s and was very excited to try the 3s as I continue in this training block, however, the increase in drop and cushion/height made running in this shoe a very different experience. It felt less responsive on the road, and I felt slightly more unstable. The differences caused some pulling on my anterior chain just two runs in - about 6.5 miles on day two when it bothered me most (not uncommon for the drop and rocker, but uncomfortable post injury and deep in training nonetheless). If I had more time, I'd try to introduce them slowly and see if there was any improvement because a huge pro was the added cushion - it felt great without feeling like you have ankle weights on which is common in highly cushioned shoes. The 2s felt supportive but "snappy" and great for long runs or track workouts. That's missing in the 3s for me. Huge Brooks fan so will be returning them and already snagged another pair of Max 2s before they disappear!

Springy but taxing on the knees

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The design doesn’t seem particularly trendy, although I do like the color scheme. I’m not a fan of the sheer top of the shoe, both visually and practically, but the breathability is great. These shoes are also practically form fitting at the top. They’re easy to slip on, and have laces just in case you need extra security. At first this excited me, but by the end of the day I had some mild indents on top of my feet. Those might have been caused by the laces, as the tongue is quite thin. The soles are springy and comfortable, but the tips of these shoes have little shock absorption. This put some stress on my knees, which have recently taken a turn for the worst. I felt especially sore in the knees when pushing weight onto my toes or climbing up and down stairs. I definitely don’t recommend these shoes for all day wear or if you have knee problems like me, but they should be perfectly serviceable on a run.

This is a very nice shoe

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

I’ve only tested these on long walks, but WOW do they make me want to go for a run (I don’t run, ever). They are positively bouncy, yet unlike other super cushy shoes, my foot feels so solid and stable—not like I’m going to roll over to one side when the foam depresses. Where other cushioned shoes feel like pool floaties, these are buoys: un-tipoverable but somehow, they just float.

Hyperion Max 3

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like how the Hyperion max 3 fit my feet. They are not too tight on the foot. The toe box is wide enough to keep you comfortable during a run or standing for a shift at work. I spend a considerable amount of time on my feet for work, and I have no pain when my shift is over. There is plenty of support for my long days at work. The hyperion max 3 is a comfortable shoe whether you are wearing it on a run or as your daily shoe. I would highly recommend.
