Crocrah Disappointing design Yes, these have very good non-scratch grippers, they are long enough to reach over a big pan safely. BUT - the spread is very wide and difficult to control. I repeatedly caught my little finger in the space near the hinge as I tried to grip food (large sausages, nothing really tiny) and the rough edge inside makes it quite painful. I ended up wrapping a rubber band around the handles to limit how far they can open so my hand could grip around both handles from the beginning. Would be much better to have a catch of some kind integral to the tool.

Newtogolf Useful but a bit long Needed new tongs for use with non-stick pans. Theses ones do the job but are a little too long and so have a tendency to get jammed in the drawer. There is a handy catch that you push in / pull out which alters whether the tongs are open or closed and certainly the tongs don't scratch the non-stick. They do the job and seem robust enough to last through lots of use and dishwasher cycles

Sparrowmoon Excellent! I wish I had found these before, they are brilliant. For so long now I have struggled with tongs, they are either flimsy and useless or just useless! These are made well and strong enough to hold linguine (for example) and remove from the boiling water without burning my hands.

Tsam Sturdy but flawed Tongs are sturdy and seem good quality, however the silicone tips are too thick and make picking up small items difficult.
