Glycerin 23

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I received the Brooks Glycerin they caught my eye as being bold in their colors and was not sure if I would like them. But, after putting them on I found that their flashy look was pretty cool. Being a dad with three young children, I like comfort, but also want to keep up with the times. I had my four year old son say how cool they were, as well as a couple friends, and my 21 year old nephew comment on how they like the Brooks. Putting on the shoes there was a little flap near the edge around the ankle area and I wondered the purpose of this, but then I realized this is a feature to prevent water getting on the socks while allowing for airflow for feet. The cushion in the shoes was just enough. At first I thought it would be too much cushion, but I found it to be just enough for walking and running. The only downside to the shoes is the lighter color of white can easily get dirty, but the material allows for easy cleaning. Overall Brooks, produced another great running shoe and will enjoy these on runs or walks with my family.

Brooks Glycerin 23

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As an avid runner who runs 3-4 times a week, I was super excited to try the new Brooks Glycerin 23. My typical weekly run schedule is 1-2 base pace runs up to an hour, one HIIT run (High intensity Interval Training), and one longer run up to 10-12 miles. Overall, the shoe did great on shorter and fast paced runs, but did not meet my own personal preferences on longer runs related to how highly cushioned they are. I will explain more about this later in my review. Out of the box, the Brooks Glycerin 23 is a stunner. The color white and bright yellow color scheme is really appealing and the shoe looks and feels very comfortable. I was surprised how plush they felt when first putting them on and I would describe them as silky smooth. The inside of the shoe is a dream to wear and blisters and hot spots seemed unlikely due to how well they fit. I typically wear a men's 8.5 and these felt very true to size. They were snug enough not to cause blisters and this was confirmed after I ran in them a few times. Due to how well these shoes felt on my feet, I decided to wear them during a 12 hour nursing shift where I'm on my feet for the majority of the 12 hours. Aside from a great running shoe, I would say this shoe provides great comfort for all-day wear. The maximalist style cushion is very plush and was a game changer for a 12 hour work shift. From a running perspective, I was quite surprised about how much I enjoyed the Brooks Glycerin 23. The ride feel is very soft yet somewhat bouncy which made me feel like I was propelled forward after my foot struck the ground. I feel like these shoes are very efficient and my downward momentum was reciprocated with a springlike push up off the pavement and good energy transfer. I thoroughly enjoyed this on my shorter runs and HIIT runs, but longer runs were a different story for me personally. Although some might really benefit from the extreme amount of cushion on longer runs, I found myself feeling lots of fatigue in my calves and Achilles after running for over an hour. This isn't the first time I have experienced this while running long distances in highly cushioned shoes, so I can't say this isn't just a highly personalized problem. On shorter, faster tempo and HIIT runs, the shoes felt great and made running "fast" really fun. They are very light and the weight of the shoe was almost barely noticeable on my feet. For how much cushion they have, I was really surprised how light they felt. Compared to any other shoe I have run in, the inside on these shoes feels far superior as well. Overall, the thing I loved most about the Brooks Glycerin 23 is how comfortable they felt on my feet. The kinetic bounce the added cushion provided was great on short and fast runs, and the materials feel very plush and silky smooth on the inside. The fit was snug and true to size. My feet stayed in place while running even at faster paces, and excessive movement inside the shoe was not a problem. Despite having a very high stack height; and in my opinion maximalist style cushion, the shoe looks like an authentic runner and has a purpose for those that are in search of highly cushioned and luxuriously feeling shoes. I personally did not enjoy the extra cushion on longer runs, but I would still highly recommend this shoe to friends, family, and other running enthusiasts.

Running with Purpose

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Glycerin 23's are not dissaponting! I have been running consistently for 24 years. The Glycerin 23 offers upgrades that previous shoes do not have. I am amazed with what the shoe offers. First off, when I first put on the shoes, I could immediatley feel the extra support in the heel and toe that not only provides comfort and support, but I can also tell an immediate improving in my heel strikes. I have more explosion going into each stride. Being an experienced runner, I know the Glycerin's will help lessen the aches and pains that some from teh daily pounding. I suspect I will have less soreness, which would be amazing! The shoes are exceptionally light and I mean extrememly light. I am not sure how they have so much technology in the show while being so lightweight, which is huge when logging 30+ miles each week. ' The style of the shoe is pretty awesome. I like the added material around teh ankle. I feel like it will add some protection for when I run in wet conditions and seems to make it easier to slode my feet in as well. I know it's small but I also like the laces. The ends are plastic, which allows me to only tie my laces with one knot versus two. I get irritated whe I have to double knot my laces. I know.....it's not a dealbreaker but a simple improvement that matters to me. Time will tell ho wthey hold up but will report back on this after logging some miles.

Good, stylish road runner

It has eye-catching colors and I like bright shoes as they help visibility when things get dark quicker during fall and winter. I wear it for road running and everyday use around town and with friends. This shoe is really comfortable on the heel and feels soft to run on even when jogging on concrete.

Instant comfort and great design

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] From the first time I put on the shoe, it was very comfortable. Almost no break-in period. The shoe has a very springy feel when walking or running, probably because of the large sole. The shoe itself is very light and comfortable to walk or run in. These have become my go-to shoe since I got them for long walks and runs. The structure of the shoe feels good for these activities and it feels stable and secure whether you're walking, jogging, or running, however, because of the large (tall) sole of the shoe, it sometimes feels like you need to be careful not to roll an ankle (no mishaps yet though!) when you're doing other activities like trail running or anything on uneven terrain. The shoe looks great and the design is very purposeful. I can tell that care went into making sure it was well-built and functional. For example, there's a unique, sturdy, but soft and comfortable pull loop on the back of the shoe that makes pulling it on easy. It breathes wonderfully. I don't really have any feedback or comments for improvement. From the first wear, these have been great. Overall, this is a good-looking, comfortable everyday running/jogging shoe that has quickly become my daily pair.

Great pair of running shoes!

I’ve been running easy road miles in the Brooks Glycerin 23 and they’re incredibly comfortable right out of the box. The cushioning feels soft and protective without being mushy, which makes pavement runs easier on the legs. The fit is true to size with a roomy, breathable upper that doesn’t need any break-in time. Overall, they’re a great everyday road shoe if you’re a casual runner who prioritizes comfort and a smooth ride over speed.

Perfect

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I can’t say enough good things about these shoes. They may be the perfect daily trainers. The uppers are really comfortable. The amount of cushioning is really nice and forgiving, yet they don’t feel clunky or heavy. The tread works great, even on wet roads. I don’t have a single thing I’d change about them. They’re that good.

Good enough

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall a pretty decent shoe. Feels a little heavy and inflexible overall but I’m hoping it changes as I break them in. The design feels a little outdated and quite chunky which I don’t really like but it is comfortable enough for quick little runs if I wanted to use them for that. I think this is a good option for someone just looking for walking shoes or shoes that might last a good amount of time but I wouldn’t really incorporate them into my training. In summary, good shoes but stiff and heavy.

Glycerine 23, coming in hot

Originally posted on brooksrunning.com

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Good every day trainer. Fit true to size. I wore sound house a bit before running in them, but it’s probably not necessary. If you’re an avid runner and/or fan of Brooks, I think these will provide exactly what you expect.
