Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love the Ghosts but I cannot stand the thin laces. They do not stay tied throughout the day

Not a fan of the changes

They look good. But they feel completely different than the previous versions. Ok for walking and the gym but I go to my old ghosts to run. These are clunky.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have three pairs of the ghost 17. I love the colors and the fit! The ghost 17 feels like they have more support and stability than previous 2 or 3 models. I love them!

Narrow Toe Box
Originally posted on brooksrunning.com
I read reviews about a narrow toe box but decided to chance anyway because I have ran in Ghost for years. About 3 miles into an eight mile run they started rubbing blisters. Don’t buy these if you need a wider toe box…this isn’t the shoe for you.

Ghost lover beware - this is NOT what you came to love

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been running in Ghosts for many years and never had an issue with any of the prior models. So I did not expect what happened at all. Immediately when slipping into the shoe, I noticed that the toe box was a bit more narrow. 'Oh well' I thought and off I went for a run. This is when it went from 'oh well' to 'oh this is bad'.... My feet started to slip out of the back of the shoes immediately. Now mind you I use a hook that is used for tightening ice skates to tighten my sneakers so they were perfectly tight in the front, however, that did not help my heel from slipping up and down in the shoe. Half a mile down the road I considered turning around and just calling it a night, but persisted and continued with my run. Big mistake. I made it around my neighborhood (probably because I adjusted my gait, my foot, and just really wanted that evening run) .... and returned home. Within 10 minutes of returning home my hip and knee started hurting. I have been running for many years, run consistently and regularly, same distance, same surface. The only thing that changed was the shoe. So please do yourself a favor, if you want to try the shoe, go ahead. But, please listen to your body and turn around if the shoe and the run seems 'off'. I run, lift weights, am very fit and I have never had any issues with my hips or knees before, so the issue I have now is definitely from the shoe! I am hunting down old model Ghosts on other websites and hope they tie me over until Brooks comes up with another model that works for me. The entire shoe just feels .... 'off'. Bad design. Definitely not an upgrade.

Not like they used to be.

I had to return them as they are now too narrow in the toe and it forces the heel out of the shoe. It's a real bummer when you rely on them for work and are unable to. Please go back to a wider toe box.

A Great Walking Shoe
Originally posted on brooksrunning.com
I love this shoe and have, in fact, purchased a second pair. I like it better than the Ghost 16 as it seems to have more cushioning and the toe box is a bit wider and over all the shoe is more comfortable. I have multiple generations of the Ghost shoe. I keep trying others but come back to this one as it is the most comfortable for the longest time. I am not a runner, but a walker. I travel a great deal and these shoes will get me through long days of sightseeing day after day.

First time I've purchased a Brooks product, and so far have liked the looks, how it feels, didn't have to break in, and confirmed by my podiatrist & PT this was a good shoe to help my overall health.

I have been wearing the Ghost's since they were the Ghost 10. I wore the 16s and loved them. Lightweight but solid cushioning. Multifunctional, just fabulous overall. The 17s don't have that feeling at all. I have a theory that the models that are even numbers are awesome, amazing, fabulous, fit like a glove. The odd numbered models... just aren't it. This is narrow, stiff, and just doesn't have the OG ghost feel to it. I feel like I get on here to review the odd numbered models and go "bring back the Ghost 16!"
